"The Guiding SEARCHLIGHT, " "As the SENATE Turns, "One NOMINATION to Live" "GERIATRIC Hospital" (for all you Byrd and Lautenberg fans out there). Follow along with us, as the Dems raise the level of histrionics, bloviation, pontification, and all around bad acting to new highs, er, lows...

I just wished they did this before sending the transportation bill through. That would have saved us another 280 billion and Bush then could have said he wiped out the deficit.

It akes unanimous consent to waive a rule. Any single Senator has the power to withhold consent. Any single Senator has the power to effectively "shut down" the Senate.

Well, since most things that the Senate is supposed to do requires "unanimous consent", I thought that if even the minority objected to committees meeting, they couldn't, but, I know who we can ask---

I think there was originally more drama to the cup and saucer story. Someone poured coffee in their saucer and someone said what are you doing? Then the analogy came to past. It's like any story that gets passed around...."You had to be there" for the whole truth.
WHo the heck even usues a saucer any more? I use coffee mugs.

IIRC, some time ago the cup-is-to-saucer question was pulled from an IQ test. It was deemed racist because minorities don't have complete sets of dishes.

My mom-in-law prefers cups. She has severe arthritis and prefers cups to mugs :)

I get a saucer with my espresso at some shops... still use ice to cool it (I've got a "cats tongue"). But I don't pour out my drink into the saucer, that doesn't make any sense to me.
