Liberty includes the liberty to screw up!
My actual income never was very impressive, but by learning to do almost anything short of brain surgery I managed pretty well.
When the right to be independent is taken away from Me, I may as well be a democrat.
My Father was a Man that would never accept "Can't do it" as an answer. His reply was always, "be honest, just say You don't want to try". I suppose I tore up a lot of things, from alarm clocks to radios, and all of a sudden they started working when I put them back together.
Freedom is just that, You never need be beholden to anyone on Earth, unless You want to be.
Not trying to argue with You, it is just that I am a certain type of Republican not much seen in higher circles, I hope We continue to cooperate.

Bezerkely. I'm shocked....
I'd ignore that law.

The trick is to do it all to code. If you do that, who will ever know? God created window blinds for a reason.

Answer - none. Because the average Joe is going to ignore this one.

Will smoking pot still be legal there? So long as you don't plug in an electrically-powered bong, you're good to go and you are in fact pre-qualified to be a City of Berkeley building inspector specializing in electrical installation.
Few people realize that the presence of dense pot smoke gives 16 AWG wire the identical thermal carrying capacity as 12 AWG wire in a strict Methodist home. Just one of the useful bits imparted by your technical education professionals at the UCB School of Engineering.

How will they enforce it? They'll lock up all the light switches in a closet with the Sudafed.

You can no longer plug that grinder into the wall Does that mean that I can't use that KitchenAid that I bought at Macy's?

I see a compromise coming. They'll let you install the light switches, but they'll want serial numbers on all light bulbs, and a tax on each sale to fund hospital burn units.

Actually they are moving to Nevada. We have no state income tax and the cost of living is very low.
The Californicators are selling their half million dollar homes moving to Nevada buying real homes for 300k and pocketing the change.
There are no "for sale" signs in my area.

Trust me, on a serious claim, they conduct depositions of both spouses, kids, neighbors. And they will specifically ask about 'improvements, repairs and maintenance', and who did the work and who supplied the materials.
And unlike the media dealing with Hilary, a couple of "I can't remembers" will leave the homeowner flapping in the wind.

This is Berzekeley after all. The Taliban who live here oppose allowing people to do things they could do for themselves. It would give people the wrong idea about not having the government babysit them.

"The Bezerkoids will pass a law that DYI Stores, Hardware stores, Sears craftsman, etc.... can't sell you the part until you produce the paid receipts for the permits and taxes." Just like illegal drugs and R-12 refrigerant, NAFTA will save our bacon again. Where there's a will there's a black market.

Living in the woods, AND, being isolated and insulated from any SERVICE that government can and will offer you. That is truly tough to accomplish, because fire, and woods kinda go together, and as one gets older, doctors and hospitals can be needed, not to mention that social security check.
I know what you mean though. Even living in the woods they still find you with that 911 address that has become so popular, you know the one that pinpoints your location so "they" can find you physically, when "they" need too.
In the olden days it was possible to escape, but I don't think there are any places of refuge left. government, whether, ours or third world, has become so large and intrusive as to pretty much eliminate the word safe haven from the lexicon.

Yes. I actually had intended to say Montana and Nevada. They're swarming Montana but they are absolutely overrunning Nevada. Everytime I fly over (cheap seats on Southwest A/L from TX to CA;stops like a bus every 200 miles including LV) Las Vegas my mouth just drops to the floor at the growth. You can practically watch 'em add a whole new suburb while you're sitting on the tarmac. The problem is, you realize, that once they flee the absurd regulations and high taxes they voted for while living in CA, they promptly proceed to try to cram down the throats of their new neighbors the same ridiculous programs, punitive policies and confiscatory taxation which has turned their once beautiful state into a hellhole. So start saving your $ now, because you'll need it in a few years when you need to change a fuse, Huck!
