Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation Urges Wife of Disabled Jacksonville Man to Err on the Side of Life To: National Desk Contact: Pamela F. Hennessy for the Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation, 727-445-1766, phenn@zimp.org CLEARWATER, Fl., May 14 /Christian Wire Service/ - The volunteers with the Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation, along with the family of Terri Schiavo, are urging Jacksonville, Florida resident, Eliza Thomas, to allow her 34 year old husband to live. The Foundation has learned that Scott Thomas suffered brain injury in September of 2004 and has since been incapacitated and dependent on others. His mother, Pamela Patton, has petitioned the courts for guardianship of the disabled man and was awarded a temporary guardianship which could expire as early as June 3, 2005. Mr. Thomas's wife, Eliza, is currently seeking to take his guardianship over. Ms. Patton is currently pursuing neurological testing and treatment options with a Clearwater, Florida neurologist, Dr. William Hammesfahr. Mrs. Thomas, however, has reportedly stated that her intention is to move her husband to the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida and seek the authority to direct the removal of his gastric feeding tube, causing his death by dehydration and starvation. According to Ms. Patton, her son speaks a limited vocabulary, gives affirmative and negative hand signals and has successfully answered questions of where he lives, where he attended school and his situation. She states that he is aware and oriented. The volunteers of the Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation are urging Florida's Department of Children and Families (Florida's social services agency) to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mr. Thomas's injuries and to ensure that he is not currently a victim of abuse and neglect. Terri Schiavo's family is asking Mrs. Eliza Thomas to err on the side of life. According to them, the dehydration and starvation death suffered by their daughter in March of this year was anything but a peaceful and painless death. Statement of Bob Schindler, Terri Schiavo's father: The suffering our daughter endured and her death over the course of nearly two weeks was horrific. I am pleading with Mrs. Thomas to please reconsider her decision to seek the removal of Scott's feeding tube and to allow him to receive the therapy and rehabilitation he needs to improve. I beg Mrs. Thomas to give her husband a chance. |
Beer joints and restaurants in Florida are the rough equivalent of hospitals.
Your "two different descriptions" ~ to be precise.
Now, repeat after me "I am somebody".
(Words of wisdom from Jesse Jackson ~ very applicable in this case.)
accusing me of lying about my Father's death is despicable. You are a despicable human being.
I wonder if she can get him out of Florida?
Knock it off.
As Yogi Berra would say..............................;-)
It is all of society's business to prevent cold-blooded murder. Have you lost your mind?
Since when is it allowable in America to murder citizens? I just can't believe you could think this is right!
Evidently many do justify it. I think it's sad.
It's unbelievable. They've let their bitterness blind them to the simple difference between right and wrong.
"there is no way a wife would order the feeding tube removed from a spouse who can communicate."
I don't know who wrote that above, but recent, and not so recent history has, unfortunately, taught us otherwise.
It is, indeed, hard for me to imagine how a man trapped in his own body must feel, knowing what he must know now about how his wife's feelings have changed. I wonder if he knows how severely they have changed. Part of me hopes not, but part of me hopes he knows so he can defend himself if he can.
At this point, it is necessary to remind everyone that no one has the right to withdraw food and water from anyone in their care. Every American is guaranteed their God-given, unalienable right to life under our Constitution, the fundamental law of the land.
But the fact that the defenders of killing Terri will now try to justify killing someone with this obvious level of consciousness illustrates clearly the hypocrisy of all of their arguments about Terri's condition in recent months.
They want the right to kill disabled people in any and all cases. That is what has become apparent.
Jim King is a joke and will probably retire because of his health due to being so derned FAT!
bump for later reading
Thank you for your advice, but I can see where no one ping'ed you to this thread. You came on your own volition at post #9.
That seems to break your former solemn pledge, since this article was FROM the SCHIAVO Foundation, and written by Pam Hennessey...
It has been claimed that the wife Eliza CAUSED Scott Thomas' disability by hitting him in the head. (I wonder if she used a frying pan or a rolling pin?)
The wife, Eliza Thomas claims Scott tripped over their dog and fell backwards in their kitchen, striking his head, while she was in a different room.
The most dangerous thing about this story is he is still in FLORIDA!
You know, I heard callers on radio programs saying..."They're not killing Terri, they're letting her die."
That is bull, plain and simple. Just imagine the little guy who made a card for Terri needs his food and water like we do had a relative who "wanted to let him die".
I think Clinton made it fairly obvious that we have redefined certain things in society to the point of changing the definition of words.
Murder went to=euthnasia= now to "letting them die".
How does a person trip and then fall backwards?
>>How does a person trip and then fall backwards?
I dunno. thats got me baffled. I could see walking (not running) with something in my hands, not seeing the dog, tripping and falling FORWARD, but not backwards.
We must have another case of prosecutors and investigators doing NOTHING about the initial 'attack' that brought on this man's disability. I would think the lump on his head should have exactly matched SOMETHING in the kitchen if the wife's story is to be believed.
