Groton, CT is where General Dynamics builds subs.
Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is a refueling and refitting yard, I think. It is in New Hampshire.

My understanding is Groton is the location of Electric Boat, a Division of General Dynamics and where the latest subs are built. The Jimmmmmmmy Carter spit ball shooter being the most recent.

New London is the Navy military submarine base and sub school.

Groton, Connecticut, is a submarine base. Electric Boat Div. of General Dynamics is in Groton and they build and have built many of the nuclear subs. That area will be hurting if it's closed, I know. Portsmouth is the Portsmouth Navy Yard in Portsmouth, VA.

Prtsmouth Navy Shipyard is in Portsmoth NH (bordering Kittery ME), losing that will hurt the region.

A good friend of mine was an engineer there until about 5 months ago.

Grotton is a sub base in Connecticut. Portsmouth is a naval shipyard in New Hampshire. These are the proposed New England closures: Ah, the benefits of being in the bluest region of the country just continue to accrue!

Portsmouth NSY is a shipyard in Maine, I think the Groton "part" of that shipyard (its facilities near Groton CT) were used to stage and assemble the Trident hull "circles" for the trident construction. It was a former USCG/US sub patrol airplane (Naval Air Station) facility out near the sound.

Groton CT is the location of Naval Sub School, Navy Subase, etc, etc....
