Sa far Ft Monmouth, NJ; Grotton, CT, Portsmouth Navy, Brunswick Navy and Ellsworth, SD.
It is very clear from the list of Reserve Bases on this list that the viability of reserve forces is in question.
sub base new london actually resides across the river in groton. same beast.
and people can't get transferred to another base is there ain't none to transfer to. some might relocate, but others will remain. it don't look none too god for us econn-ers.
Liberalism is a Mental Disorder
We have military in China? Or is that just a PC way of saying "Taiwan"?

I don't have adobe on here at this time; is anything in Virginia or DC area (Baltimore?) listed?
Makes perfect sense.
You need to do some studying as to where the LOST Treaty, NAFTA, FTAA & CAFTA originated. Hint look for the blue flag.
Alot of this does not sound right. Some of the closings sounds outright stupid.
Nothing on the California list I'll lose sleep over, and Everett was spared up here.
I can live with it as far as my two states are concerned.
sorry if i sound like i'm pms-ing, but this is literally in my back yard and we do a lot of business with them. we're right there in the food chain and stand to go down with them.
Source? I'm interested in the list.
Download the pdf files listed in previous posts to see the whole picture.
Some realignments are huge, like moving 23,000 jobs out of leased space in Virginia and adding 12,000 jobs to Fort Belvoir.
EB Manufacturers the subs, they can be stationed anywhere from there. I don't agree that they will have to close, but it's certainly not going to help.
Some units will move elsewhere, but the base will stay open but smaller. Or it can mean that other units from elsewhere will move there and it will grow. Or it can mean it stays the same size, but the command changes (Carswell AFB to NAS JRB FTW for instance).
yeah and a major one.

I really don't believe those who say the N.E. states base closings are political retribution. Many factors go into the decisions, some of which have been mentioned already in previous posts. Cost of living in the area, tax rates, local population encroachment, environmental issues, etc.etc.
It was evidently decided it was more cost effective to close bases in the N.Ern. seaboard and keep those farther south.
I'm 100% empathetic with you.
I am NOT a happy blue state dweller.
Well, I feel sorry for you, I do. I am not happy about any of this either, having friends who work for P&W and Navy Defense contracts. I can only hope this backfires on the liberal politicians when the people who voted them in as Senators have their food stamps run out.
I watched P&W R&D/GEB in West Palm go from a bustling 11,000+ employees to less than a thousand in only a few years, thanks to Dem cuts in the 90's.
