I'd think the Wash Monument might provide a clue for poor little blacksheep who've gone "astray."

Its a 25 mile zone. By the time he was within visual range of the monument he may have been distracted by fighter jets and flairs. Obviously, the guy was a bonehead, but it's not an uncommon mistake. A couple of years ago we had a fully loaded airline jumbo jet drop its passengers off at the wrong airport. He was off by 40 miles and did realize it until he was on the ground.

The plane wasn't secured. It is parked among all the others. If there was reason for suspicion of criminal activity I'm sure it would have been taken to a hangar and locked up.

I beg to differ. A plane within 3 miles of the Capital & WH can be there in a flash. I'd much prefer being safe than sorry. Plus, this reminds everyone to be on their toes.
