I used to work on a hand grenade range training new soldiers and we had a lot of duds. Sometimes the troops would forget to pull the pin. Then there was a safety pin over the lever which had to be pushed off. Then sometimes it was just a dud. If they rendered it safe that might mean they unscrewed the fuse and took it out of the grenade.

I took his comment as a safety concern, rather than a job performance issue.
I agree with him also. There was a scary moment a few months ago when the President was briefly separated from his bodyguard at a State dinner in Latin America (can't remember which country).

I like how the words
How a Time Delay Grenade Works are put into a pile of rubble after the grenade detonates in the flash animation found at the bottom of
this page.

Good thing the perp didn't have a strong arm.
I recall Lurch having a problem tossing grenades...
... his 1st grenade chuck in 'nam netted him his 1st purple heart.

I agree it can't be done.
Not only that, but did this Georgian security officer not think that perhaps another grenade might be incoming??
The Georgian President Saakasvili (sp?) was there as well.
Is security NOT going to walkie talkie each other and say..."Pssst, might be a good idea to cut the speeches short?"
To: Milwaukee_Guy
Next question, was he supposed to be there at this time? Sorry Milwaukee_Guy, I cannot answer that one. However this morning the report that the President's 4 day trip would wrap up today, when all this weekend it was being reported as a 5 day trip made me wonder if it was suppose to be a 4 day trip to begin with.

Perhaps they waited until W was back on U.S. soil to announce it.
That's Exactly What They Did!

MSNBC is stating that some in Tblisi government is saying that this is a lie. However if it is a lie, some others in the Tblisi government started the lie.

Post some more user IDs and info. before DU deletes them.
Methinks they have been watching too many re-runs of Farenheit 911 and actually taking Al Franken seriously.

I've got my eye on Pooty Poot. I'm glad GWB is back home. I hope he stayed away from the soup while he was in Russia.

I was called by the President at 0500 zulu-time alerting me that there was a security threat and that a plane was on standby to take me and 4 members of the Delta force to Georgia. I told the President that I work alone.
I got up put on the gravity boots and did 500 ab crunches and cleaned my 9mm.

115. Oh bull. This is just like on 9/11 when he had to run and hide here in
Nebraska, what was that whopper, someone had the coordinates of Air Force One?
And then there was the 'British Air Force jet' that almost blew his surprise visit to a mess tent in Iraq (fake turkey and all).
Then there were the WMDs that we KNEW were there and we KNEW where they were at.
Then there was that brave young heroine, Jessica Lynch, who singlehandedly fought off a whole division of crazed Iraqi soldiers.
And then... (you get the picture).

Looks like the Secret Service did their job in establishing a security perimeter far enough out. I hope. A grenade 100 feet away can still get lucky and get ya in the eye.
Well Mr. Bush thanks for showing courage.

Just got home and my husband told me! Once again, prayers are answered!
Now the question is, WHO was the grenade thrower?
