Corey Kemp, the former treasurer, was charged with corrupting his office by accepting thousands of dollars worth of gifts from the late lawyer and prolific Democratic fundraiser Ronald A. White.
The payments were lavish by any standards. Investigators said Kemp got a new deck for his house, an all-expenses paid trip to see the 2003 Super Bowl, free meals and parties in his honor, and an outright payment of $10,000.
Two Commerce Bank executives were accused of participating in the scheme to corrupt Kemp by arranging for their bank to overlook his bad credit history and give him a mortgage equal to 100 percent of the value of his new home.
All three were convicted of the main conspiracy charge.
The five defendants faced dozens of combined charges and the jury deadlocked on some counts and acquitted on others. Each of the five defendants was convicted of at least some counts.

The slime of Philadelphia gets a little bit cleaner...
I am assuming he's a democrat mostly because the article doesn't mention political affiliation.
Philly Ping!
Too bad. For second I had thought some jury had found Jack Kemp guilty of stupidity over the illegal immigration issue. Oh well, there is always tomorro.
Well, it's a start.....but we have a long way to go to clean up the mess that is Philadelphia.
Thank goodness. So much garbage going on here we don't know where to start, but we'll take it.
Hope this isn't overturned with all the jury acrimony.
Is this related to the federal probe into civic bribes by the same Rats in Cleveland, Houston, Detroit, and other cities?
Their attendence at the 2003 Super Bowl leads me to suspect the answer is "Yes".
This should be a BIG story as it snakes through many major metropolian areas and shows how the taxpayers have been taken to the cleaners.
(If what I just wrote makes you sad or angry,
Corruption probe here broadens to 3 states (FIVE STATES now!!!) Oliver Spellman case
