Race coverage starts at 2 PM Pacific 5 PM Eastern on NBC
Kid Rock has a few too many Julips.
Waaaaaaaaa! I miss Smarty Jones, (sniff). Sorry. Thanks for the info. I'll be watchin'.
Thanks for the great posting job Hair.
Guess I am a stick-in-the-mud, I am 45 miles from the downs and working on the yard the afternoon.
ah heck, no horses named Runaway Bride or Chili Finger?
I'll try an exacta box with Afleet Alex, Bandini, and High Fly. I'm leaving out the favorite.
Thanks for the ping! I'll tune in at 5 PM EST.
If I bet, I would not pick a favorite, no payoff. It will be hard to beat Bellamy Road's 120 Beyer speed rating, but I do give BANDINI my confidence. He will win or place, and he's at 6-1 now. His sire is the great "stud muffin" Fusaichi Pegasus and he's been improving each time out. Solid trainer, respectable jock.
My "going out on the limb" longshots are High Fly, Greeley's Galaxy, Noble Causeway and Wilco. Wilco's only chance is his jock, Corey Nakatani, who knows how to bring a longshot in, I've seen it a hundred times. Remember last year that "Birdstone," a big longshot, spoiled Smarty Jones' triple crown bid. So don't count Wilco out.
High Fly is underrated, but has Zito as trainer and the great Jerry Bailey as his jock. Can't count out Noble Causeway. Last race he was 2nd by only a length and a half. And he's trained by Nick Zito, and has one of the best jocks in the world on his back, Gary Stevens.
Greeley's Galaxy (at 15-1) we know little about because he didn't race as a 2 yo, but he won the Illinois Derby by a stunning 9 1/2 lengths and he has a 106 beyer.
If you have to pin me down, here are my bets:
WPS on Bandini and Greeley's Galaxy
Trifecta Box: Bandini, Afleet Alex and Bellamy Road
Exacta: Bandini, High Fly
Place and show on both High Fly and Noble Causeway
I was looking all over for this thread- thanks for spoting it!
$10 bucks each on High Limit, Afleet Alex (I love the story, althought they're milking it a bit too much for my taste) and Noble Causesway!!!!
How many mins 'til post time?

16-12-11 for the boxed trifecta. Prefer an 11, 12, 16 finish for the price, although Bellamy Road, IMO, will not be denied.
bttt
I have so many bets out on this Derby I can't enumerate them all.....I've had a good week, winning every day, I am up over $3000.....I have win bets on a bunch of longshots, and 2 futures bets on GOING WILD who is going off much longer than even in the 1 and 2 Futures pools. But a very good and profitable exacta would be the 3 and 4, Sun King and Noble Causeway. Always gotta try to beat the favorites, even when they look as good as Bellamy Road, and Afleet Alex. The presence of two real longshots in the superfecta will make for a BIG payoff, and that's what it's all about.
I LOVE the big fields and this is the biggest I can remember. I KNOW I AM GONNA CASH SOMETHING! Hopefully a superfecta or trifecta at least. Will check in later with my wins or losses.
What a great race!!! WOW!!!
Breaks my heart to see George Steinbrenner lose again
hahahaha
hehehehe
A perfect day for an American tradition.
They sure got it right when they said the Kentucky Derby is the most exciting two minutes in sports.
