After Action: White House Correspondence Dinner
The D.C. Chapter's Seventh Annual FReep of the White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) Dinner took place on Saturday afternoon and evening.
In attendance were Kristinn, TgslTakoma, Exit 148,Staytrue ,Billf, gunsareok, Doctor Raoul, BufordP, Always Free, zelig, nutmeg, Jimmy Valentines Brother and one more freeper (whose name eludes me).
Our group photo is here
A limosine with Jane Fonda drove by and we serenaded her with a chorus of "Hanoi Jane"
Matt Drudge stopped by to chat with freepers Doctor Raoul, Kristinn, gunsareok and tgslTakoma.
photos are here
Senator Sununu walked by as did Chris Wallace and Michael Barone and Megan Kendall.
Ed Gillespe gave us a thumbs up.
Here Kristinn shakes hands with Brett Baier
Uma Pemmaraju stopped by for a moment. Picture is here
We would also like to thank Congressman Mark Foley, Florida and Fox News reporters Brian Kilmeade, Steve Doocy, Jim Angle, James Rosen, Wendell Goler, Katherine Herridge, Rita Cosby for their support as they passed by.
Joe Lockhart did amble by without comment
We got a surprising amount of support from the attendees and we had more positive feedback than negative with one guy who applauded us for 19 seconds as he walked by.
The last picture is of Jimmy Valentines brother panhandling as an out of work New York Times Reporter. One person actually donated a dollar to complete the fun.
I'm jealous of you.
Wish I had been there BUMP!
Mega-dittos to that!!
This pic is begging to be in your Today's Toons.
Uma reads the news. The interesting point is that I have no idea if she's liberal or conservative.
Just like you want from a journalist. No bias. Just the news.
The other Freeper was Christopher --- but I don't know if that is his on-line name or not.
That picture of JVB is a howl!! The first donation he received was given from the heart by a passer-by. The gentleman saw the extended cap and read the sign. He went to his pocket and gave a donation --- in all sincerity. And JVB never blinked! Except for slight grin, He stayed right on roll! He and his friends spoke to us for a while, asking what we were all about. When the donor realized what JVB actually represented, he laughed at his action! (He had a good heart)
There were 3 other people who sided with our side and talked for awhile with us. They found JVB's gig funny and they also made a donation with much hoopla.
Missed you ralph, I hope you can make it next time.
Another great job by the DCFreepers!
Ditto on both points!
Taxman Bravo Zulu to you and the DC Chapter FReepers!
Well done! Sure wish I could have been there with you!
Thanks...just added the beggar to Today's Toons 5/5/05.
Thanks for posting the thread. I'll upload my pix as soon as I get over to see what kind of issues Exit148 is having with her Webshots account, and if I can help walk her through the process...
Exit, I've been away from the computer. Kristinn said you need some help with photos... I'm on my way...
Thank you, DC Chapter members. You make me proud to be a FReeper.
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my miscellaneous ping list.
Fox News reporters and contributors who walked past us (to the best of my memory): Jim Angle, Catherine Herridge, Wendell Goler, Chris Wallace, Fmr. Ambassador to Morocco Marc Ginsberg, Michael Barone, Bret Baier, James Rosen, Steve Doocy, Uma Pemmaraju, Brian Kilmeade and Megyn Keldall. I think Rita Cosby passed us in a limo.
We assured any FNC reporter passing by that our "Liars Club" didn't include Fox News.. LOL. Bret Baier and Uma Pemmaraju stopped to talk and pose for photos with kristinn and tgslTakoma for awhile (photos above). The rest gave us a 'thumbs up' or thanked us for our compliments to them.
There may be more photos and reports added to this thread - I'll keep you posted.
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my FoxFan list. *Warning: This can be a high-volume ping list at times.
Great job by our DC Chapter as usual.
This must have been a riot:
