With the leftist "anti-war" movement in a shambles - International ANSWER and the International Action Center, once the darlings of the left but now almost universally known to be communist front organizations that don't want peace but revolution in America - the leftist leaders of Code Pink thought they could step into the void left by ANSWER and take over the fight for a leftist utopia in America.
Code Pink's leaders have a long and dirty history of supporting bloody dictators and communist causes worldwide, but they are working to whitewash their red roots and reinvent themselves as lovers of peace, harmony and American values.
What liars they are!
Code Pink has made it their mission to (by whatever means necessary) demonize, denigrate and demoralize our military families, our wounded military members, and young recruits. As part of their bloody hands mission, they have been holding weekly Friday night candlelight vigils at the main gate at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. They thought that their "Pretty in Pink" costumes would hide their bloody history; that we would forget the things that Code Pink's leaders have done in the past to betray America's military members and US interests overseas.
To the casual observer or passerby, their signs appear to be supportive of our troops; but they are not. Code Pinkos are playing psychological games with our war wounded and their families; sowing doubt, anger and shame among the emotionally and physically fragile at Walter Reed. A positive mental attitude plays a very important role in the physical recovery process; and these evil-intentioned beings outside WRAMC know exactly what they are doing by their opportunistic demonstrations outside Walter Reed.
Code Pink's modus operandi has been to infiltrate and disrupt private events and government proceedings, screaming and shouting their messages and unfurling pink banners for the media to photograph. Their move into candlelight "support" vigils is almost uncharted water for them; and they thought they would be given a free pass, immunity from any public scrutiny while they did their fake vigil thing. It doesn't work that way, girls.
Enter the DC Chapter...
The DC coven of Code Pink added to their schedule this past May Day weekend; with a newly published book to peddle, they wanted to give themselves a little PR push at the White House on Sunday, with some street theater.
Code Pink had called for their antics to begin at 1pm, so DC Chapter of Free Republic members gathered outside Lafayette Park, across from the White House at the same time. What follows is a colorful report of that meeting. I have posted some photos (click on the captions, for a few laughs) through the following report, but to save thread loading time I have linked to even more.
I hope you all enjoy the retelling of this story as much as we who were there enjoyed getting the Code Pink leaders's goats, so to speak.
Honor Roll for Sunday: Nutmeg, Zelig, Exit148, Doctor Raoul, Always Free, Kristinn, tgslTakoma, our friend Nofel and his son Amar, and our Israeli Kurd friend from past Freeps (a lurker in good standing).
We arrived in ones and twos, on H Street outside Lafayette Park. I took a walk around the side of the park and down to the SE corner of Pennsylvania Ave. where I looked for Code Pinkos. I didn't see any massive crowd of Femmes in Fuschia, so I walked towards the center of the park where I found a small group of people, who appeared to be very confused, trying to figure out what they were doing.
With a little further looking around, I did see Code Pink's DC don, Gael Murphy skittering about the park. She was busily barking orders at anyone who would listen to her, telling them that they were facing the wrong way and ordering them to turn around and read over their scripts. She eventually got the cast and crew facing the right direction and she paused long enough for me to catch this photo...
Murphy continued barking orders to her cast members, who included the Evil, Imperialist, War Profiteer, Dick Cheney, the always cherubic Susie "Medea" Benjamin, a post-hippie looking bearded man with tape over his mouth, to represent a gagged Iraqi media, and other characters, David Kay, Iraqi citizens, American taxpayer, Gen Karpinski, and Abu Ghraib prisoner, Gitmo prisoner, Osama bin Laden.
While I was taking in all the colorful characters in the Code Pinko production, I noticed our lurker friend who had set up very quietly off to the side of the Code Pink demonstration. I went over to say hello to him, and as I was doing so the police came over and informed him that he would need to leave the park because Code Pinkos had a permit for the area. At about that same time the DC Chapter members began arriving inside the park and overheard the police instructions. At that point Kristinn and the DC Chapter decided to set up in the street on Pennsylvania Avenue , approximately 50 feet distant from Code Pink; and I went back to digitally documenting the demonstration...
Murphy calls everyone to attention, and it's showtime, awaiting arrival of the president. An announcement is made and Fighter Pilot "W" flies in, on the back of the taxpayer, for his photo op (they just can't get over that aircraft carrier landing, can they?). "W" begins his commentary about the accomplishments of the mission, and is of course met with hecklers.

Code Pink's theatrical efforts are falling flat, due to no audience and hecklers in the street.
The stage is quickly shifted further from Pennsylvania Avenue, to avoid the hecklers.

Medea says, "We're getting ready to March around the White House. Who wants this noisemaker? There were no takers.
While Code Pink was lining up for their march, DC Chapter was waiting for them.
Pinkos marched out into the street and turned right.

Once Code Pink had marched out into the street in front of the White House, they seemed to lose all momentum. Their press info had said that they were going to march around the White House.
What they ended up doing was march around in circles in front of the White House, as the DC Chapter continued their chants of, "Eight Million Iraqis gave you guys the finger!"
Their protest march pretty much fell apart after about ten minutes of steady verbal barrage from us.
Medea instructed her people that it was time to leave...
The Code Pinkos went back into the park and got out of their costumes, milling about for another 15 minutes before they scurried off to the book Party in Dupont Circle.
I had the thread all ready to go last night and my computer hiccupped and I lost everything and had to start from scratch this morning.
While we all work hard to counter the leftists with the truth about their agenda, we do try to have a little fun at their expense. If our Freeping was too much like work, we probably wouldn't be able to keep up the often grueling pace.

It would tickle me PINK if that would prove to be an empty promise. If they have not, the disclosure would further discredit them.

It was our honor to FReep once again with the mighty DC Chapter FReepers this weekend. As I said on the other thread, although this FReep and the WH Correspondents Assoc. dinner FReep was fun, we realize that you, Kristinn, Doc Raoul and other DC Chapter FReepers who regularly plan and execute these FReeps usually face FAR more hostile situations in DC with these commies, and we again THANK YOU for being out there on the front lines for us so very often.
