I'll get to First Lady Laura Bush's bawdy stand-up routine in a minute. But I want to highlight a related new book out about how young conservatives are shaking up the dominant liberal media culture. It's called "South Park Conservatives." My name is listed on the cover along with many other (mostly) right-leaning pundits, websites, and bloggers, but I must confess to having mixed feelings about the honor.
The best-selling book's author, Brian C. Anderson of the Manhattan Institute, writes a fun, breezy survey documenting the rise of talk radio, FOX News, the Internet, conservative publishing, and college Republican activism. Anderson's chapter on the success of conservative talk radio and the abysmal failure of liberal Air America to replicate it is incisive. Another chapter on the blogosphere (alone worth the price of the book)

It's too bad you have to be one or the other.
Do I need to remind you which "side" of this argument is always, perpetually threatening to leave the GOP?
and we all know what a loss for the Republicans would mean.
What makes you think we'd lose?
Michelle, if you are a Republican, and Democrats p*** you off (even if you'd prefer not to use that particular expression)...you are a South Park Republican. Sorry.
Some of us would like to see a little of all of that. We just keep our perspective on things like humor.
"It's too bad you have to be one or the other."
I hope I didn't imply that. I didn't mean to. I know that I, for one, am politically hard to pigeonhole. However, they say politics makes for strange bedfellows and I've seen some awfully weird alliances in recent years: Christians and Moonies, Conservative Christians and Ayn Rand worshipping atheists, Catholics and certain Evangelicals who believe the Catholic church is the Whore of Babylon, etc.
To avoid confusing myself in the ballot box with whether I'm a Christian or someone who wants low taxes or etc. etc., I just keep my eye on the goal: Reducing the size and scope of the federal government.
In the end, I think it all begins to fall in place if I remember that.
A small federal government has no need for activist judges issuing rulings that strip the Judeo-Christian roots of this country; a small federal government has no need to get involved in education, "the arts," radio or television and so on.
A small federal government, though, does protect the borders and shine lights for ships in shallow waters, and it keeps a military strong enough and smart enough to destroy threats to my safety. That's really all I'm asking for.
She's a weenie.
The Die Hippie Die episode was a classic, I love South Park.
The talk radio joke, Michael Savage was getting in a lather because Laura told jokes and wasn't being June Cleaver. But of course Savage's schtick was exposed long ago, he will say anything to whip up anyone into a frenzy for ratings, a pure media whore, among many.
(snicker)
How about Cartman's dad? ;)
ROFLMAO!
?
When they make fun of conservatives, they have a point, they do a good job of it, the Kenny dies/Shaivo episode was brilliant, especially the demon from hell whispering in the Republican Senators ear. If you want to laugh at others, laughing at yourself should be a part of it.
Savage is a radio hack. A total lightweight.
Rush plays the microphone like a master jazz saxaphone player.
No contest.
How did Cartman put it?
Because they're hippies and we hate them...
"ROFLMAO!"

Look At Me, I'm A Master Of Witty Chatroom Speech. Aren't you impressed?
"Christians and Moonies, Conservative Christians and Ayn Rand worshipping atheists, Catholics and certain Evangelicals who believe the Catholic church is the Whore of Babylon, etc."
Lol good examples.. I think a lot of it comes from the fact that no group could possibly hold enough votes to win an election by itself. So they get divided into two broad camps. Then have to make compromises.
I totally agree, but I've seen some South Park related posts on FR which make me think some have somehow missed this.
I hadn't heard that one before either.
