Michelle Malkin: I'm No South Park Conservative
The National Ledger ^ | May 4, 2005 | Michelle Malkin

Posted on 05/03/2005 10:06:52 PM PDT by Coastal

I'll get to First Lady Laura Bush's bawdy stand-up routine in a minute. But I want to highlight a related new book out about how young conservatives are shaking up the dominant liberal media culture. It's called "South Park Conservatives." My name is listed on the cover along with many other (mostly) right-leaning pundits, websites, and bloggers, but I must confess to having mixed feelings about the honor.

The best-selling book's author, Brian C. Anderson of the Manhattan Institute, writes a fun, breezy survey documenting the rise of talk radio, FOX News, the Internet, conservative publishing, and college Republican activism. Anderson's chapter on the success of conservative talk radio and the abysmal failure of liberal Air America to replicate it is incisive. Another chapter on the blogosphere (alone worth the price of the book)

The 2008 Dem strategy (says Howard Dean, in so many words) is to:

1) define South Park and Christian conservatives (they are slightly abstract groups, at the moment)
2) divide the South Park and Christian conservatives.

DON'T LET THEM.

The First Lady resorting to horse masturbation jokes

A ridiculous statement, no matter who makes it.

divide the South Park and Christian conservatives

I'm a Christian, a conservative and I thoroughly enjoy South Park. The Dems will have a tough time dividing me.

I understand Malkin's reaction to SP. I do not recommend it to many of my conservative/Christian friends. But surely she's not suggesting that I can't be a conservative if I enjoy the show.

Lighten up, you say? No thanks. I'd rather be a G-rated conservative who can only make my kids giggle than a "South Park"/"Desperate Housewives" conservative whose goal is getting Richard Gere and Jane Fonda to snicker.

Lighten up Michelle and get out more

It's an old joke that has been around for years and it's not about masturbation

And by the sounds of it .. I doubt Michelle has watched Desperate Housewives

It's not all about cheating wives

Michelle I like you and MOST of your views but... Your WAY offbase on this. It was a comedy bit, and no foul words were used. I thought it was hilarious, watching George on the hot seat. :D Lighten up a little.

I see both sides. This was absolutely needlessly pandering to the libs and I really don't care what the first lady said. But she did say a masturbation joke(milk male horse) and there's no denying it.

Well said. I thought that Mrs. Bush's comments were not only unbecoming, but were rather stale jokes. Who hasn't heard the "milking the male horse" one before?

My grandfather told me this joke when I was a youngin' and he himself heard it back in the 1950s (he had a cousin who had a dairy farm).

Michelle Malkin: I'm No South Park Conservative

That's fine with us, now she can go back to defending the use of internment camps during WWII. Of the talking heads on the news channels these days she is in the lightweight category.
