Most of Mrs. Bush's humor at the correspondents' dinner was just right: Edgy but not over the edge. But I think the stripper and horse jokes were totally beneath her.
Just put it to the other-shoe test: If it were Teresa Heinz Kerry standing up on the dais telling the same jokes, the conservative commentariat would be buzzing for the rest of the year about what a tasteless skank she is.

Aha! Fair enough; I did lose track.
So your point is that people considering themselves Christians and voicing a dissenting opinion on First Lady Laura's speech were equated with a cult. Do I have that right?

the lesson to be learned from 2000 is that they sat home because of a 30 year old DUI conviction.but the point is that it affected their vote.
That's exactly what I am talking about; nobody is perfect; Jesus Christ is NEVER going to run for POTUS.
And most of us in the GOP are sick to death of being held hostage by a bunch of unreasonable judgmental pricks.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: let 'em leave.

You haven't seen one word by me sanctioning comparison to the Taliban. Never said you did. However, you mentioned some had been saying this event was a national disgrace. I never saw those comments. The vast majority of those who didn't like a couple of Laura's comments on this thread haven't come close to saying even this. Yet they are attacked.

I repeat: The mental gymamnsatics that allow one to takes seriously the phrase "Fundie Republic" can only be authored by a paranoid delusional, OR complete moron. Why don't you give your blood brother Bill Maher a call?>>>>

I'm just going to have to get a more fire retardent pair of underwear. You'll get the hang of it; and you'll learn quick enough who knows what they're talking about (and you should pay attention to) and who's just here to work out some problems they're too cheap to pay a shrink about.

If it were Teresa Heinz Kerry standing up on the dais telling the same jokes,Excuse me, but that's WHY it's so funny...because it's said by someone you wouldn't expect it from. These people really need to lighten up.

The whole thang is so stupid because only a dimwit moron wouldn't know a horse from a cow. It would never get to the "johnson stuff."

I challenge you to find anyone on this board with this opinion. YOu can't swing a dead cat around here without finding one of those. You're either blissfully ignorant or deliberately twisting the truth.

I knew your couldn't point to a liberal position I've taken in 7 years. Okay, I'll humor you: all the posts where you argued for killing Terri Schiavo.

But wait a minute... I have a question. If Good Christians are really Good Christians and they know the comparison to the "Taliban" doesn't fit.. why are they even bothering to be upset by the comparison to the "Taliban".

My point is that good christians who voiced an opinion were equated with the Muslim Taliban.FOR THE TENTH TIME, it's not ALL Christians, just a small percentage of them.

yes, I agree with you that its "small potatoes" in he scope of things, but the point is that it affected their vote. small things can affect alot of votes, and we need those votes, so why antagonize those people? I'd guess that it actually improved the poll numbers of the First Lady and the President. At the very worst, this was comedy somewhat tamer than Leno or Letterman, and their viewers vote, too.
But this wasn't about votes. It was about being silly and poking fun at ourselves.
If anyone refuses to vote for Republicans because of this 2 minute comedy routine they have serious reality issues.

"The problem is that the RINO social-liberal "Republicans" are indeed the ones trying to hijack the GOP."
Yes. It's been happening off-and-on for over 150 years, since the followers and readers (adultery romantics; early feminists) of Charles Fourier (French founder of commune philosophy and feminism) started invading our Party.
Notice that even now, they equate criticism against feminism with hating "women." ...old socialist lie that any reasonable person can see through, if you prompt them to keep repeating it. They expose themselves for what they are, in time.

To be honest, I don't really know if it's a woman hater rant. From what I gather, though, this poster isn't too fond of feminists--or women in the military, for that matter.
I looked at the links (and where they were from) and they just seemed way out there re: this discussion.
Hey, if I'm wrong, I'll take it back. I got no problem with that. But I don't think I am. I think it's got little or nothing to do with Mrs. Bush...F16 Fighter's post (I believe to you) was just an opportunity for familyop to rant about how feminism has ruined the GOP, I guess. He never said "women" in general.

Get a life Michelle. And screw your faux pomposity and feigned shock. If it had been Hillary, the press including you Ms Malkin, would be ranting about what a good sport she was and tittering about her clever quips.

These people really need to lighten up. I think they get some kind of fullfillment from getting angry at everything.
