Fox's "24" is pulling off the unthinkable this season. No, it's not that it's one-upping previous seasons with an electric blend of nightmare terrorist scenarios and bold twists. It's that it's dispensing with the politically correct evasions that pervade prime time episodic television. "24" identifies the terrorist enemy without flinching and lets the good guys fight to win -- without apologies. In the process, the show is earning a conservative cult following.

Uh, the author claimed the show was realistic. I showed that it wasn't. Sorry that bothers you so much.
Ummm, yes. Yes, I would.
Bless you for asking the question.
I'll tell you one thing, Vic Mackey would NEVER, EVER have allowed that Secret Service guy to stop him from getting Habib Marwan. Mackey lose a bust? You kidding?
ROLMAO!!!! I totally agree with you! After last night's incredible surgery intervention where Jack single-handedly tried to save Paul, I turned to my husband and said, "Maybe he'll make breakfast for everyone too!" I wish he had turned to Audrey and killed her instead. I HATE HER!
Funny you should say that. My wife and I were watching the news last night (Special Report with Brit Hume, of course) and they had a story about Iran and North Korea's nuclear ambitions. We were discussing how there were no good options for the US in either case when I said: "We shuold just send in Jack Bauer because he kicks a**"
Yes, the show is unrealistic in many ways, but it is good fun for sure!
Love it!
U"h, the author claimed the show was realistic. I showed that it wasn't. Sorry that bothers you so much."
And I showed you have zero, zilch, nada imagination, sorry that bothers you so much.
In theory, yes.
In practice, no, because I know someone else will watch the season and except the good parts for me, saving me a lot of time.
I really, really love the Internet. I'll just point out that the screen grab should have been rendered at 14:9 rather than 4:3.
At my age, that's a blessing!
oh yes, even the Blind Justice guy could find his way around in that room....
My imagination is just fine. However, I try not to confuse it with reality.
"My imagination is just fine. However, I try not to confuse it with reality."
If your imagination were fine you'd realize that 24 is a theatrical representation of reality. What do you expect them to do? Hire the CIA and AlQueda to play the parts?
24 is reality in the sense that there are people who would like to see us dead and we do use technically sophisticated counter ops against them.
And I'm saying their theatrical representation of reality isn't very realistic. However, the author of this piece said it WAS realistic. I disagree. That is it.
You are trying to set up some kind of circular argument to make a point. However, circular arguments never get to a point. So adios...
Must be in the name Jack! I love both Jacks.
Thanks to all of you here on FR, I got the 1st series for my husband. I started watching halfway, and then went out and got 2& 3. I hardly slept, I loved it so much. Haven't watched this season, gonna wait for the DVD.
Of course. It's just a show. I really hope CTU is not that inept. They can never manage to apprehend anyone without having 90% of their engagement team wiped out. They also seem to be woefully understaffed.
Being on the other side of the security wall I was amazed at what Clancy put in his stories. I figured he had someone tipping him off with hints. But yes, it is amazing to see the secrets become real. For example, would the government really end the SST (Blackbird) program if they did not already have something better?
