TORONTO - Broadcaster, author and journalist Bob Hunter, who co-founded the environmental action group Greenpeace, has died. He was 63.
Hunter, who was the ecology news specialist for CHUM's Citytv, had been battling prostate cancer.
Co-founder of Greenpeace, Bob Hunter, dies at age 63 Hunter was also known in Toronto for his early morning Paper Cuts segment on the network where he would appear in his bathrobe and comment on the stories of the day in the newspapers.
Hunter, born in Manitoba, helped launch the pro-environmental group Greenpeace in 1971 after sailing to Amchitka to oppose nuclear weapons testing.
"This was a man with a great loving heart, a brilliant mind and a massive spirit," said Stephen Hurlbut, vice-president of news programming for Citytv.
Hunter was also honoured as one of Time magazine's Eco Heroes of the 20th Century.
He won a number of awards for his writings, including a Governor General's Award in 1991 for his work Occupied Canada: A Young White Man Discovers His Unsuspected Past.

Heard he was swimming in his black wetsuit and accidentally harpooned by Japanese whalers.

Wait, does decomposition produce any heat? I would imagine the gases would? (I'm bad)

I guess cremation is out, particulate pollution and all that.
So is burial, misuse of greenspace.
I guess that only leaves composting or taxidermy as possible solutions.

Wait everyone, wasn't Bob Hunter the one who exposed the modern environmental movement as nothing more than a scam? Isn't that why he left GreenPeace? I heard he was more of a conservationist whose orginization was hijacked by lefties..
Maybe I'm thinking of someone else?

It is...when you're over 50. :)

RIP Mr. Hunter...didn't agree with Greenspeace and other enviro-whacko politics, but still...wouldn't wish anything on ya now that you're gone.
To: mnehrling
Nevermind, it was Dr. Patrick Moore who was one of GreenPeace's founders who left calling the environmental movement the world's biggest scam...

Really? I heard that he was clubbed to death by a baby Harp Seal.
To: Borges
Hate to say it, but the right one died.
Patrick Moore another co-founder, lives. But he saw the light and realized Greenpeace had turned into nothing but a bunch of politicized people haters, and now preaches sustainable development. Needless to say, the environuts hate him.

>>does he get a 21-whale salute ?<<
Nope, some of his compadres may give him a wail salute.
They thought of a 21-fart salute, however, no farting is permitted because methane is dangerous to the ozone layer.
