Conservatives can be just as "risque" as libs, especially at these types of functions. I heard Bill Bennett hand wringing this morning about it.
Hey Bill, get over yourself!

I hope this isn't true. That definitely crosses a line.

Its funny to hear smut-peddling liberals complaining about family values. Thanks for the commentary David Korn!

"Laura Bush cracks risque jokes at the White House Correspondents' dinner," sniffed Agence France-Presse. Imagine that, the French have apparently acquired a standard of taste in such matters. Even David Corn is has "standards" - who knew?
To: fight_truth_decay
I never thought I'd EVER agree with David Korn, but I do. While parts of the speech were funny, even very funny and well delivered, it was over the top for the wife of a president we elected at least partly for a change from Clinton-era moral slimepit. I have always liked Mrs. Bush, but she has slipped considerably in my opinion of her. It's telling that the people who most liked her humor was the Hollywood people there who recognize their own way of looking at the world.

Oh please. People have been making "milk the bull" jokes as long as there have been cows. This just sounds like the rancher's version of a farmer's joke.
People need to get over themselves.

These jokes are "risque"? They must have left out the best ones.

In spite of popular opinion, not all of us conservatives are born again baptists. That may be difficult for the likes of David Korn to understand.
Being intellectually superior, of course, he should be able to do so readily.

The Lefties have found a new mantra: moral indignation at Laura's comedy skit.
Too bad they didn't have the same 'moral indignation' when ole Bill had his zipper down -- numerous times -- in the Oval Office (and probably elsewhere).
The Lefties are being a tad [understatement] hypocritical.

What a bunch of prune faced prudes! I'm assuming all of the correspondents are adults, were there 4 yr olds there? I heard it all the French were offended, but thought nothing of Bill and Monica. Rather selective! Go Laura!

"I'm not sure I want to explain a lot of those jokes to my 4-year-old."
I"ll bet he had no problem explaining Whoopi's jokes about President Bush last year to his 4 year old. What is a 4 year old doing up at 10:30 watching a political event, anyway?
These liberals are so hilarious. They're the ones who want "alternative lifestyles" taught to kindergartners and now they're all concerned about "family-values"?
To: fight_truth_decay; OldFriend
"It was very risque," the Nation's David Korn said yesterday on Fox News. "I was wondering what the social conservatives and James Dobson had to say about all these jokes that were laced with sexual innuendo. Not a very family-values-type speech. I'm not sure I want to explain a lot of those jokes to my 4-year-old."
Oh, puhleese......this was late on a Saturday night at an adult function. If his four year old is up that late watching C-SPAN, he has other problems to deal with.
GET OVER IT!!!!!!
To: fight_truth_decay
Honestly!
Mrs. Bush was at an adult function. No children were present. She has a sense of humor. I have a sense of humor. The president has a sense of humor. So did most of the people at the banquet.
Does Mrs. Bush have to wear a Sunday-school teacher hat at an adult function?
And the "milking the bull" joke is so old, my grandkids, all under 10, have heard it at school.
Pulllllleeeeeeeze....

Nonsense. They just played a clip of Laura on the radio and my 4-year old was in the room. I didn't hear a thing that made me feel uncomfortable. Some people need to loosen up a bit.
To: fight_truth_decay
What line did she cross? From the headline I thought she put on a top with spaghetti traps and slipped into some tight jeans and started singing "Redneck Woman" on the table tops.

What a jerk. Since when are jokes from an adult dinner supposed to be explained to a 4-year-old.

I can see why they are upset, she is definitely no Whoopi Goldberg!
By the way, I thought she was hysterical. I would much rather explain why you don't milk a boy horse to a 4 year old, then what a lewinsky is.
