Laura leaves 'em laughing, gasping (Not a very family-values-type speech..very risque: David Korn)

Who knew? First lady Laura Bush took over the podium from her husband at Saturday night's annual White House Correspondents' Association dinner and knocked 'em dead, keeping Washington's most powerful politicos in stitches as she worked the ballroom like a seasoned stand-up comic.

CUT

Although Washington's movers and shakers laughed at Mrs. Bush's performance, some in the press woke up with a Sunday morning hangover and began to criticize her monologue as immodest at best and downright bawdy at worst.

"Laura Bush cracks risque jokes at the White House Correspondents' dinner," sniffed Agence France-Presse. CNN reporter Elaine Quijano, who attended the dinner, also apparently had her sensibilities scarred by some of the first lady's quips.

"In some respects, I think for some folks it was a little shocking because she kind of crossed the line a little bit in some people's minds," she said.

"It was very risque," the Nation's David Korn said yesterday on Fox News. "I was wondering what the social conservatives and James Dobson had to say about all these jokes that were laced with sexual innuendo. Not a very family-values-type speech. I'm not sure I want to explain a lot of those jokes to my 4-year-old."

Eyebrows were raised by the first lady's bit about the president's ranching skills, which Mrs. Bush said her husband lacked because the elite schools he attended, Andover and Yale, "don't have a real strong ranching program."

She then added: "He's learned a lot about ranching since that first year when he tried to milk the horse. What's worse, it was a male horse."

The crowd howled. The joke, a female Associated Press reporter said, "had women giggling in the bathroom."

The Jefferson family has pretty much accepted the Hemings family into the fold. And yes, it could have been Jefferson's brother etc based on DNA evidence, but he wasn't around during the time of likely conception. Let's just turn to occam's razor on this one and go with the most likely account rather than twisting logic and probability.

Asd for the Jefferson Bible, it was a King James version with the miracles edited out. Jefferson loved the teachings of Jesus, but hated the miracles and the commentary. As a natural tinkerer, he probably couldn't help himself.

First a gang leader and within minutes you are responsible for the fall of the Western World? That’s quite a feat.

This is the post that I replied to

Interesting. And, just to explore your sensibility, if you came home to see your husband, with four or five adult Christian men, hooting and hollering at a naked female exotic dancer, would that be okay too?

And I said that actually my husband had gone to a strip club once for a bachelor party, and that I trusted my husband enough to not have a problem with it. You then say...

That wasn't the question.

What exactly was the question, or the answer, you were looking for?

Another stunning example of the kind of logic NEA-public-school-educrats teach our children.I went to public school. I guess that explains why I think your argument sounds stupid, too.

Unfortunately, your type of thinking is why the GOP is infested with RINOs. A case in point is Arlen Spector (RINO, Scotland). Had the President and Senator Rick Santorum stuck to their principles and supported the pro-life, conservative candidate, Pat Toomey, we would have two conservative Senators from a Northeastern state today, instead of one conservative (Santorum) and one liberal (Spector). If Santorum was electable, running as a conservative in a heavily union state with a big city cesspool like Philadelphia, Toomey could have been elected.

Unfortunately, Bush and Santorum panicked. Bush's moderation in this matter did not carry over into a win in the Keystone State for his re-election. Spector will be a thorn in the side of conservatives for another five and one half years. So much for compromise for its own sake.

Oh, wasn't I suppose to say anything, being a woman and all?

Uh, Howlin, you were the one ripping into my casting judgement - when you are doing the exact same thing. And I have NEVER said anything about women not being able to cast judgements - so it's despicable that you would try to pin the words of other posters on me.

Do you really think you can pontificate on these thread like you have been and none of the rest of us can do the same thing from our perspective?

Funny, that's basically what you were trying to do to me - ripping into my casting judgements as you cast your own. Pot, meet kettle.

When we do, collectively, win, the whackjob needlebutts come out of the woodwork to negate the gains.

Yes, yes, yes!!!

It's rubbed in our faces on all the friggin' news shows - which of course gives much less time for covering actual news.

These RINOs, as you call them, win elections. Needlebutts don't, a fact for which I am thankful.

I would pay $150.00 per ticket to hear Laura wise crack. Her banter was similar to me wife teases directed toward me. By the way, we just celebrated our 20th anniversary.

He probably gets a friend to give him a running commentary because he would not stoop to watching it himself. Now I am stooping to his level but he has riled me.

Does Howlin type your posts for you or just verbally tell you what to say????

I have news for you. We are ALL Howlin. There are only about five different people registered here, The rest of the names are all the same person. The twisted thing is she is also most of the people who ~disagree~ with her.

It's really much more diabolical than you think ;~D

Pardon me if got it wrong but what forum rules would then be breaking if told the person what you thought if they were not violent or obscene.

Could also be a personal attack. The point is, you put words into my mouth to make your point - like you've done this entire thread. And then you have the gall to take on a self-righteous air.
