LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS, APRIL 27. Lexington parent, David Parker, was arrested today by the Lexington Police for trespassing at his sons elementary school during a scheduled meeting with the principal and the citys Director of Education over his objections to homosexual curriculum materials and discussions in his sons kindergarten class.
At the meeting, Parker demanded that the school inform him when homosexual subjects are to be discussed with his son, and allow his son not to be included in such activities. He said he would not leave until his request was granted. The Principal and the citys Director of Education both refused his request. They then telephoned the Superintendent of Schools who also refused. Police were called, who told Parker that unless he left the school he would be arrested.
Statement by David Parker(April 27, 2005):
I, David Parker, am the father of a kindergarten student at Estabrook Elementary School in Lexington, Massachusetts. Since the beginning of this school year, my wife and I have learned that school materials and discussions about gay-headed households/same-sex union issues have been exposed to the children. There are definitive plans to increase the teacher/staff/adult mediated discussions of these subjects.
We have officially stated on many occasionsto the Lexington school administrationa request that we be notified when these discussions are planned, and want our 6-year-old opted out of such situations when arising spontaneously.
Our parental requests for our own child were flat-out denied with no effort at accommodation. In our meeting on April 27, I, insisted that such accommodation be made and refused to leave the meeting room. I was informed that I would be arrested.
Parker will be arraigned on Thursday, April 28, in Concord District Court at 9 am. This is an unbelievable outrage, said Brian Camenker, a friend and Newton, Mass. parent. Its where last years same-sex marriage ruling has brought us.

"All the home-schooled kids I have known are better socialized than the average, because they are accustomed to associating with people of different ages."
I suspect the success of their socialization has a lot to do with their affiliation with a church, family, and community. The children pick up moral as well as social cues from their surroundings. (Not to mention, the type of parents might have better genes?)
The problem with the public school system is not only its lack of religion, but its use as a substitute for family and community. The teachers are clueless as to how to morally instruct children, and the children have few satisfactory adults to emulate, only their peer group.
The effects has been devastating. Public high schools are producing professional teenagers. They are little more than highly sexualized mannequins. Little wonder they turn to deviancy, or let themselves be misled by the homosexual agenda.
"I do not remember the last book I read that was typo-free."
Proofreaders don't get paid very much.
"It's more joy than I deserve, frankly."
I think that's one of the most evil things about the pervofascist agenda. It persuades people to foreswear life's greatest joys permanently.
They try to counter that with the push to legitimize child-raising and even adoption by pairs of sodomites and lesbians, but that's where that "something instinctual" you mentioned kicks in. It just ain't the same.
The ideal is father, mother, and their own children. Nothing else can rise above second-best.
(Disclaimer: nothing in the above is intended in any way to denigrate or devalue the noble sacrifices of the many married couples who adopt and raise children.)
You forgot one.......The state doesn't love them.
Would youplease add me to both lists? Thank you. AS I have two school aged children and four more that will be following in their footsteps within the next 5 years or so this is very disturbing to me.
I will add your name. I would also urge you to consider homeschooling. Your children, after their 12 year sojourn through the indoctrination camps called "public schools" will never be the same. Especially those in CA, which I assume you live in due to your screen name.
If you absolutely cannot homeschool, try looking for a private school which does not force "gay is good" down the kids' throats. The more you inform yourelf, the better off your children will be.
Please. I have 6 children two of which are already in the public schools. I am a stay at home mom and would like to know how to begin home schooling them. I am an intelligent enough person but I do not know where to begin. Can someone please point me in the right direction to get this started for my children before the next school 'indoctrination' year?
At the time I became pregnant with my first child I was 'unfit' as well. However I became 'fit' by the time she was born. this isn't the way of it for many but in my case at least knowing I was having a child motivated me to be the best parent I could possibly be. If/when you are blessed I wish you and your family all the best. You'd be amazed how much motherly instinct you have once you actually become a mother.
THAT is not always true (not saying that this particular poster is unfit). I have seen many sadly way too many parents that never should have had children. Just being male does not make you a fit father and likewise being female does not automatically make you a fit mother. (sorry had to put my 2c in)
Do a FR search using "homeschooling" and "public schools" for starters. Read the threads that come up, and communicate with others who are homeschooling their children. You'll likely find lots of links. Try googling homeschooling supportive organizations in your area.
Many people here on FR homeschool. Try freepmailing scripter - he and his wife homeschool and can likely give you some resources. I used to homeschool, help tutor many homeschooled kids. You don't need a college degree, just basic skills and a high interest!

Thank you. I have what is considered an above average intelligence and I actually opted out of public schools myself after 10th grade and finished my high school education at home by myself. I also studied independently and got a diploma in animal science AWAY from public schools. If I can homeschool myself I surely can do it for my children as well. Just looking for a place to start. All advice is appreciated.
I'd say start with looking at the HSLDA (Home School Legal Defense Association), and if you do decide to homeschool, one of the first things you should do is join the HSLDA. Checkout their "Quick Menu" on the left hand side of their website.
Click the "Getting Started" link and you'll find some encouraging news in a table on the right hand side.

Arrested father had point to make
Disputed school's lesson on diversity
By Maria Cramer and Ralph Ranalli, Globe Staff | April 29, 2005
Parker said he wanted to control ''the timing and manner" in which his son learned about ''adult themes."
''This is not about creating a forum for hate . . . for any segment of society," Parker said after his arraignment. ''I'm just trying to be a good dad."
...David Parker said he moved his family from New Jersey to Lexington last year after his employer relocated him. He acknowledged yesterday that he and his wife oppose same-sex unions, but they described themselves as Christians who do not advocate hatred.
''We're not intolerant," said Tonia Parker. ''We love all people. That is part of our faith."

What's more important than one's children?
If only more parents would ponder that question...
I went to public school grades k-12 in massachusetts. I am 21 (and fixing to enter pharmacy school in ALABAMA) but it doesn't surprise me . There were some weird-@## liberal teachers in the school system...there were some normal people but the weirdos stick in your memory.
I never listened to a word they said because my dad was always talking about how nuts the people in massachusetts were lol.
When i was in kindergarten such a thing would have been unheard of so it is sad to hear it has progressed to this level. They have no right to talk to 5 year olds about such things without parental permission. Absolutely no right. I hope cases such as this are brough to justice.
Thank you, investigating now.
i have sent sfimom a private email... love to be helpful where i can...
