ACLU appeals state decision barring abortion for 13-year-old

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The state's social services agency went to court to block a 13-year-old girl who is pregnant and living in a state shelter from having an abortion, and the girl wants to challenge the judge's decision.

The ACLU filed an emergency appeal on Wednesday asking a judge to overturn the ruling that would essentially force the girl to become a mother, said Howard Simon, the organization's executive director for Florida.

The girl, named L.G. in court documents and described as a longtime ward of the state, learned she was pregnant two weeks ago and had planned to have an abortion Tuesday. Her caseworker arranged for transportation and help for the girl.

But the state Department of Children & Families asked a Palm Beach County juvenile judge Tuesday morning to block the abortion. The agency argued that L.G., who is 13 1/2 weeks pregnant, was too young and immature to make an informed medical decision, according to the appeal filed by the American Civil Liberties Union.

"I think that a 13-year-old who is mature enough to make the decision to have sex is mature enough to decide whether to terminate a pregnancy," she added.

What a ridiculous statement!!

If the aclu can "prove" this 13 year old is mature enough to make the decision on abortion, they will have gone further towards proving their cause for nambla and pedophilia in as much as kids will then be "mature" enough to make decisions to consent to having sex with older men. I really don't think this is about the little girl at all.

The ACLU doesn't care that this girl was raped. But then, neither do the authorities. No mention of an arrest, or a suspect, or any interest in arresting a suspect.

On the rare occasion that my 14-year-old is mature enough to make a reasoned decision about *anything* ... I still wouldn't want it to be about anything really important!

The ACLU is a vile, pro-death organization.

Yet this same ACLU argues that murderers under 17 should not be put to death because they do not understand their actions.

Force her to become a mother or force her to become a murderer? Actually, the "forcing" has already happened considering she is not old enough to consent to intercourse. What we have now is consequences. Will she suffer the pangs years later of a child adopted out or the regret for having taken a life? She can rationalize the former but the latter will haunt her forever if she ever develops a conscience.

I agree! These abortionists and the ACLU are totally ridiculous.

Really... she is already a mother, forced into motherhood by a child rapist.

This is true. Years ago I said one day pedophilia would become legal, and people thought that was crazy. Yet every day we creep closer and closer.

The "news" of this story is that a child was raped and impregnated. Not one stinking mention of this in the article. Instead, it's become a tool for the ACLU to promote their agenda.

Fifty years ago, if someone had written a short-story set in a time when the rape of a 13-year-old girl was completely ignored by the authorities and the press, magazine editors would have laughed at it and given it a pass as totally and completely unbelievable.

Now our transformation as a society is complete. We've come a long way, baby. We can rape our children now, if we want, and not only will we get away with it, we won't even be noticed.
