Frist was referring to a rider attached to an Emergency Supplemental Appropriations bill by Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., that will fund government operations after September 30 - but will defund Barrett's probe and prevent the publication of his report.

I think the money to fund publication of this report could be raised very easily through private sources, I'd be happy to contribute.

I've always said that Clinton was the Democrats' answer to Richard Nixon.

Bill O'Reilly claimed that he was given two audits during the Clinton years even though he had never been a target before.

The threat of the abuse of the IRS was listed as one of the impeachment charges leveled against President Richard Nixon.

I can scarcely imagine the UPROAR by the MSM and members of the Socialist Democrat Party that would occur had the tables been turned and a Republican submitted a rider to defund a probe of a rogue Republican IRS.

Frist should have nailed stricken the amendment off FIRST rather than pawning if off on others after the fact.

I do hope DeLay is at least on the committee - he'll get rid of it.

Most of the suspicious audits took place when the IRS was run by Margaret Milner Richardson, a longtime friend of Sen. Hillary Clinton from their days together at Yale Law School.

This can't be. Liberals have assured us that they're tolerant, wonderful, perfect.

I mean, it wouldn't do for liberals to be seen as paranoid fanatics who use the IRS to intimidate journalists, citizens, political opponents.

While we're at it let's get the parts of the Cox Report that the Clintons refused to release to the public.

I want to know all that our tax dollars learned about Chi-com influence in the U.S.

(Do it before Sandy Berger gets his security clearance back and starts wearing over-sized "crack pants" around the archives, please.)

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said Wednesday morning that he'll press for the release of findings by independent counsel David Barrett...

But won't wittle-Billy hurt his wittle fingy?

Good! This is the only way to go - fight fire with fire.

The Dems have a lot more skeletons in their closets than we have in ours, and I'm sure if we make it clear we really intend to go after them, the Dems might suddenly decide to become a little more cooperative. But we've got to carry through on it if we threaten it.

Can there be ANY doubt, that the Clinton "administrations" were a criminal enterprise ---- managed by soulless, corrupt, incompetent, power drunk leftists ---- and Hitlery was the "Godfather"?

It seems pretty clear that this report could sink Hillary. That's where the real damage will be.

Even faithful (i.e., mentally sick) Democrats have a problem with the IRS targeting people for audits, based on their political beliefs.

That's not the point!!

The point is the actions of Kerry and Dorgan ARE a GROSS ABUSE OF POWER.

First we have Reid writing legislation for PERSONAL PROFIT, and then we have Kerry and Dorgan writing legislation to HIDE CRIMINAL ACTIVITY.

JUST HOW MUCH LOWER INTO THE GUTTER ARE THESE PUKES GOING BEFORE THE PUBLIC FINALLY DUMPS THEM IN THE TRASH.

I want to know which Republicans voted for this amendment. I have been looking at the Library of Congress site and haven't been able to find it - yet.

From Ann Coulter, High Crimes and Misdemeanors: The Case Against Bill Clinotn, Regnery, 1998, pp 133-4:

The most damning charges against Nixon had been that he had attempted to use the office of the president to influence the FBI and the IRS. He got an FBI investigation delayed for two weeks, and he was completely ignored by the IRS. . . .Poor Tricky Dick could never actually get the IRS to audit one of his enemies. He couldn't even get them to back off from auditing him while he was president.

"At least a dozen Clinton scandal witnesses – including Sexgate accusers Gennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Elizabeth Ward Gracen and Juanita Broaddrick – were targeted by audits during the 1990s."

The Paula Jones audit alone raised flares back in the 90s. At her income level, the odds of an audit were less likely than being struck by lightning.

"At least a dozen Clinton scandal witnesses – including Sexgate accusers Gennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Elizabeth Ward Gracen and Juanita Broaddrick – were targeted by audits during the 1990s."

"Conservative groups critical of the Clinton administration were also audited, including the Christian Coalition, Citizens for a Sound Economy, the Freedom Alliance, the Heritage Foundation, the NRA and others."

"Most of the suspicious audits took place when the IRS was run by Margaret Milner Richardson, a longtime friend of Sen. Hillary Clinton from their days together at Yale Law School."

These spurious audits didn't just happen to big named conservatives and groups during the Clintoon era. A lot of conservatives got hammered with phoney audits. If they were vocal at a local level about the Clintoons, had some power with the Republicans and were successful, they might be targets.

I had several friends, who owned their own businesses in several states get audited for years from about 1994 until GW won. Nothing was proven by the IRS. One relative was audited 5 times, and finally his CPA told him to stop writing letters to the fish wrap editors complaining about Clintoon. He spent over $100,000 and a lot of misery proving that he had done nothing.

Conservative Doctors across America, who fought the Hildebea$t and turned back her socialized medicine push, suddenly found themselves being audited as far back as the laws permitted. Many got tired of the fight and took early retirement from medicine.
