Voinovich considering coming back in support of Bolton
Move America Forward ^ | 4-25-05

Received via Email

Dear Friends,

We've heard some very good news from multiple sources in Washington, D.C. and Capitol Hill.

In response to the flood of emails, phone calls and FAXes that Senator Voinovich and his staff have received, the Senator is considering coming out once again back in support of John Bolton's confirmation as U.S. Ambassador to the UN. The Senator had no idea that there were so many Americans who supported Mr. Bolton's nomination, let alone even knew who he was.

We need just ONE MORE day of a heavy volume of emails, phone calls, and FAXes. If you can, ask a friend or family member to send just one email or make just one call. I NEED EVERYONE READING THIS TO TAKE PART IN THIS IMPORTANT DRILL...

Email Senator Voinovich's office and tell them you support John Bolton for the post of U.S. Ambassador to the UN and request that Senator Voinovich support Mr. Bolton's confirmation:

Aric_Newhouse@voinovich.senate.gov Marcie_Ridgway@voinovich.senate.gov Dana_smullen@voinovich.senate.gov Scott Milburn@voinovich.senate.gov Phil_Park@voinovich.senate.gov

Also... please call the Senator's office in addition to the emails and - again - indicate your support for Mr. Bolton's nomination:

PHONE: (202) 224-3353

If the above number is busy call: (513) 684-3265

And if that number is busy try: (216) 522.7095

And finally, if you have access to a FAX machine, or can send a FAX from your computer please send a FAX in support of Bolton to:

FAX: (202) 228-1382 ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... .....

The aspect of Voinovich's actions that offended us the most is that what Senator Voinovich did was to empower Barbara Boxer and John Kerry to accomplish a partisan political drill to embarrass the President.

Senator Boxer and Senator Kerry don't like John Bolton because they think he will be too tough on the United Nations - an institution they strongly support. Boxer and Kerry have been leading defenders of Kofi Annan, in spite of the mounting evidence of his corruption and hostility towards American interests.

Boxer and Kerry wanted to defeat Bolton for another reason - as part of their efforts to recast the recent presidential election results. The liberal Democrats on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee want to block Bush's judicial nominees, they want to see Republican House Leader Tom DeLay incarcerated, and they want to embarrass President Bush by defeating his tough, pro-American UN nominee.

But, shouldn't Senator Voinovich have been serving the interests of his constituents - the American people who want to see a strong, honest and forceful UN ambassador who will fight the corruption and Anti-Americanism that has infested the UN!?!?!

That's what this email/phone/FAX and radio ad campaign (to generate more emails and phone calls) has been all about - to get the Senator to see that he lost his way by serving the interests of people who simply are still bitter that they lost so badly in the 2004 elections.

Please read the article in the Sacramento Bee below. It explains how effective your efforts have been to date. Some of you have already called or emailed Senator Voinovich's office at least once. Others have contributed to our radio ad campaign -- you can hear the ad and also help us pay for more airtime by going to our website here:

http://www.MoveAmericaForward.org

These radio ads are getting the message out to more and more Ohioans and that will remind Senator Voinovich just who it is he is supposed to be representing and serving.

Since the Sacramento Bee link takes you to a site that requires registration I also have included excerpts of the article below...

Kaloogian targets fellow Republican

Ex-state legislator attacks Ohio Sen. Voinovoich over the delay on Bolton. ...

Within a couple of hours of Voinovich's action Tuesday, Move America Forward announced on its Web site and in faxes to news organizations that it would target Voinovich for his "obstructionist conduct." On Thursday, the day the ads began running, Voinovich's office phones were jammed with callers and computer e-mail in-baskets were clogged with messages related to the Bolton confirmation. It was no better Friday.

"The telephone lines are consistently busy," said Voinovich spokeswoman Marcie Ridgway. "And we're getting lots of e-mails because they posted our e-mail addresses on their Web site."

Kaloogian, who used the talk-radio circuit to talk up the recall against Davis, thinks the Voinovich campaign is a big boost to an organization that, for the most part, has gained only a smattering of attention from its Sacramento-area events and its rebuttals last summer to filmmaker Michael Moore.

"This seems to be the time when people in Washington, D.C., have taken notice of what we're doing," Kaloogian said.

Kaloogian's co-chair is KSFO-San Francisco radio talk show host Melanie Morgan, who said the initial radio buy in Ohio was small but more stations will be added over the next couple of weeks as contributions arrive.

"This is pretty big," she said.

My Mom still lives in Ohio so I wrote him a not so nice email from my Mom and from me, a former resident of Ohio. Also called several times. Looks like everyone keeping the pressure on has worked! I love it!

I e-mailed the all. Thanks for your links to his office staff.

Here is the text of what I sent:

Ladies and Gentlemen:

As a proud and loyal conservative voter I am absolutely inscensed at Sen Voinovich's turn coat performance on the committee charged with passing on the nomination of John Bolton for UN Ambassador.

I am fortunate to have the resources to spread a bit of money around come election time, and, if the Senator does not recant his underhanded vote to table the Bolton nomination, I will have absolutely no hesitation to contribute to Senator Voinovich's next opponent, no matter who he or she may be, come election time.

The Republican Party is still having trouble learning how to wield power when in a majority position. I, for one, will urge the party, and the President, to deal harshly with those weak- kneeed individuals that cannot seem to bring themselves to support the Party on one of the most critical votes of this session.

The UN is out of control and any vote to send another mealy-mouth go-along to get-along ambassador from the US will prepetuate the decline of the institution.

John Bolton is the President's man. He's my man. Senator Voinovich will be noted as big a traitor to the Party as Jim Jeffors if Bolton goes down to defeat. And if that should happen, my next man is Zell Miller. There is a man that understands right from wrong, unllike the Senator you work for.

End of tirade: Sincerely.....name and address

It may not do much good...but it felt good!!

First I want to see him take off his shirt and scourge himself before the entire Senate on TV. Probably Mel Gibson could lend him something useful for the purpose.

Voinovoich admitted that he had not attended most of the Bolton/UN hearings.

So, Senator, where were you? Why weren't you doing the peoples' business? That is what you were elected for, isn't it? If you were too busy to do the peoples' business and attend hearings of a committee you serve on, perhaps, instead of delaying the hearing so you could play catch up, you would have better served your constituents by resigning from the committee, rather than becoming an obstructionist--because you were too busy elsewhere to attend the meetings.

He "misunderestimated" the intelligence of the American people big time. He didn't think we knew about John Bolton and what was happening to him thanks to the Dems and a RINO like Voinovich? A complete dum-dum! I sent him an e-mail in support of John Bolton and I was very polite and respectful. What I really wanted to tell him won't bear repeating.

Sounds to me like Voinovich may be playing a hand of Beltway Poker.

Yeah, I sent him one too. I agree being polite and respectful will probably get you further along. He does appear to be listening to people from all over, not just his constituents. Voiced my displeasure with the whole committee, especially those in the majority.

Moderates. At some level, I respect a good ol' hard core liberal. At least they have principles. When dealing with a liberal, you know where they are coming from. Lord only knows what a moderate is thinking from second to second.

Apparently, Voinivich got tired of his finger being stuck in the wind.

When is this clown-ass up for reelection? Ohioans deserve much better.
