Pol Demands Actress Apologize for 9/11 Remarks

A city councilman today demanded a public apology from actress Maggie Gyllenhaal for remarks she made suggesting the U.S. bears some responsibility for the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks on the World Trade Center.
"I think it's awful what she said, that somehow we as Americans are responsible for the attacks," said Councilman Tony Avella, who represents District 19 in Queens.
Gyllenhaal, 27, a native of the Lower East Side, stars in the new film "The Great New Wonderful," which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and centers on New York City life in the aftermath of the attacks.
"I think what's good about the movie is that it deals with 9/11 in such a subtle, open way that I think it allows it to be more complicated than just, 'Oh, look at these poor New Yorkers and how hard it was for them,'" Gyllenhaal said in red carpet comments Friday to cable channel NY1.
"Because I think America has done reprehensible things and is responsible in some way and so I think the delicacy with which it's dealt allows that to sort of creep in," she said.
Avella, in a telephone interview, said he was "appalled" by Gyllenhaal's comments, which he called "unconscionable," and demanded a public apology.
"Thousands of lives were lost -- innocent victims," Avella said. "Approaching the four-year anniversary of the attacks we are still dealing with their ramifications. The fact that she could be so callous is horrendous. Shame on her. She really owes every New Yorker an apology."

C'mon, everyone knows tha if they broke it down the actual percentages of liability would be 20% US, 40% France, and 40$ Al Qaeda. The Left should be ashamed at how stupid they've made each other. When your side tries to get "complex" by being so mind numbingly simple it's painful to listen to.

What is it about our need to hear someone apologize every time they utter something stupid, reprehensible, or something we don't agree with?
I only want an apology if a person does something I know they're genuinely sorry for. That's part of atoning for something we know we did wrong.
This whole "I DEMAND AN APOLOGY" thing is childish, in my humble opinion.
So there! I'm taking my marbles and going home!

Nothing new here. ALL actors/actresses think this way. It's called job security.

I was going to slam the politician for "demanding" an apology too, until I read his quotes and couldn't find any where he "demanded" anything.
As they often do, it appears the reporter made that part up.

Agree...
However, I would like to state publicly, that I wish she had been in the towers on that day. And no, I am not going to apologize for my comments.

No one has ever denied that the US bears part of the responsibility for 911. We should have bloodied them after the first WTC attack in '94.

Absolutely make these liberal leftists H'weirdos accountable for their words and actions. Too many times when taken to court to be made accountable, H'weirdos get a slap on the wrist and an apology. Sh*t!
