It is the billionaire's folly to think that because something is not successful more money should be spent on the idea. Thus it is with liberal ideas and George Soros's money. The Hill reports that Soros and a few others of the mega-rich elite are raising money to form "progressive" think tanks. Progressive, remember, is code for lefty. George Soros told a carefully vetted gathering of 70 likeminded millionaires and billionaires last weekend that they must be patient if they want to realize long-term political and ideological yields from an expected massive investment in startup progressive think tanks. The Scottsdale, Ariz., meeting, called to start the process of building an ideas production line for liberal politicians, began what organizers hope will be a long dialogue with the partners, many from the high-tech industry. Participants have begun to refer to themselves as the Phoenix Group.
Rob Stein, a veteran of President Bill Clintons Commerce Department and of New York investment banking, convened the meeting of venture capitalists, left-leaning moneymen and a select few D.C. strategists on how to seed pro-Democratic think tanks, media outlets and leadership schools to compete with such entrenched conservative institutions as the Heritage Foundation, the American Enterprise Institute and the Leadership Institute.
For years the left has dominated the media and academia and has still had trouble selling its ideas. Perhaps it is not the branding of ideas, but the ideas themselves that are not popular. That the left thinks it has to mimic the right should be a high compliment to the right. At the same time, it is a bit disturbing that the Democrats, who brand the Republicans as the party of the rich, are seeking comfort in the bed of a few multi-millionaires to develop an agenda they intend to sell to the middle class.
The problem the Democrats and the left have is not that they do not have ideas. The problems is that they do have ideas and those ideas are not shared by the majority of Americans. So, what is the left's response? They raise millions from millionaires and try to rebrand their ideas. However, at the end of the day a burning bag of poop is still a burning bag of poop no matter how many lefties spin it as the bright burning light of equality.
BINGO.
Must be low flow.
A "Progressive" is simply someone who, in the 21st century, proposes that the world be run based on 19th century ideas, as if the 20th century never happened.
Sorry, mainstream America is not buying what this convicted socialist is selling.
Oxymoron is more like it!
SOROS is SO begging for a blog devoted to his exploits.
It HAS to exist already... anyone help with a pointer?
(If it doesn't exist, I sugges we start a blog to track and record his shadyness for future investigation/reflection)
These are Neo-Stalinist agit-prop (old commie lingo, folks) front groups to steal elections for some really, really bad guys.
Bingo ditto
the media is already completely saturated with liberal lefty bias
you can pour all the monies into think thanks you want the reality is those ideas already get maximum exposure in the mainstream media
from the way Dean talks, he figures they can just repackage those ideas, nope, not gonna work
Pray for W and Our Troops
Yes, the fight continues.
Semper Vigilans
Ping!!!
The real irony of all this is that Soros is a perfect example of what the Soviets used to call a "capitalist parasite". He doesn't produce anything, he doesn't create anything, and he uses his money to try to control the political system.
Byron York went into excellent detail on this in his "The Vast Left-Wing Conspiracy." Among other things Soros and the gang covered John Podesta in lucre to build his Center for American Progress, but in contrast to the Heritage Foundation (and York helpfully provides the reader with comparative lists of their output) Podesta's hastily-assembled outfit simply churned out masses of rancid talking points and juvenile hit-pieces. There was no comparison whatsoever.
The heart of York's thesis was that these people and their various talking-shops, media mouthpieces, and internet sites basically spent the campaign talking to each other. I would add one more thing that York seemed to miss but Rush and others picked up on. These people are so extreme and nasty that the more they take over the dem party, force dem politicans to dance to their tune and blast their rabid messages out, the more they drive normal thinking people away. There is no room for differences of opinion with leftys. You either genuflect before their entire canon or you are excommunicated.
The chapter about MoveOn.org and it's hateful antics was an eye-opener. It's amazing how much influence they now exert over the dems. All that money is just greasing those skids heading for the trash chute. And they still think it's just a matter of fooling enough of us enough of the time. "Rebranding" indeed!
Sometimes Democrats brand Republicans as Haliburton plutocrats who run the universe. At other times Democrats brand Republicans as poor ignorant slack jawed rednecks featured in the film Deliverance.
not a bad idea,
I was at a forum where someone who worked for Soros was spamming the forum with pro DNC, pro Kerry propaganda and we had great fun tearing it down, he wasn't a bad guy all in all
and he said a few things that got our curiosity piqued, first of all he said Soros did back the Republican camp at one time but he hates the Bush family and W especially for some reason he couldn't divulge (we said what - did Soros think he could buy Bush and the Bushmeister refused to play ball - keep in mind Soros bailed Bush Jr out of trouble by buying his oil company years ago and Soros still is involved in the Carlyle Group, funny how Michael Moore never talks about Soros being linked to the Bin Ladin family by his same silly logic) - also when we got this guy real mad one day, ragging about Kerry, he told us Soros had a lot of power and we would be eating our words, that something big was coming down, ooh we were scared....was it those phoney memos at CBS? LOL
then with all the 527 stuff, clearly orchestrated by Soros, Soros played Feingold and McCain for fools or were they, I think the Republicans clearly didn't see how Soros had manipulated that legislation behind the scenes knowing exactly how he was going to use the loopholes......
we thought why isn't anyone focusing on Soros, the press is bitching about some guy who gave $100,000 to the Swift Boat vets and Soros is pouring millions of dollars in to the 527s and the DNC and only Washington Post raised some serious questions once......
this guy also told us Soros wasn't crazy about Kerry truth be told but Anybody but Bush
so a couple of us started a thread, doing Google searches on Soros and again on one hand Soros sound like a neo conservative, and it is clear he is a two faced crook, how can a man that hurt a lot of "little people" in England by his currency manipulations, a capitalist of the highest order be the saviour of the DNC, I seem to remember people in the UK had negative equity in their houses because of the currency crisis
now we know the DNC itself loves big money just like they accuse the RNC but surely the base would think Soros is the antithesis to what they believe in.....but I know, anybody but Bush, and rich guys like Soros give unemployed liberals places to work with progressive thinkthanks and as professional canvassers and ballot stuffers, LOL,
of course the forum has closed, and Soros found out he couldn't buy an election.....he must have been in shock for months... that was the best part of Bush's win for me
of course the Republicans may be giving him a freebie in 2006 and 2008 if they don't get some backbone
is there not an expose Soros blog, hmmm, maybe he would have the blogger "disappear"
well I see there are some George Soros is a blood sucking Vampire pages out there.......
Soros has his own blog, puke
yeah talk about a mixed message
Here's the serious part........
Does America want Soros running our government from behind the scenes?"
If Her Majesty gets into power, Soros WILL be running the country, and the world, because Killery isn't interested (not really) in America. Her ruthless, breathtaking appetite for immense power ("the most powerful woman in the world" - hence the "most powerful PERSON in the world")......goes beyond just being president. She wants to be - literally - Queen of the World. The first one in human history........and we MUST stop her!
