A "Progressive" is simply someone who, in the 21st century, proposes that the world be run based on 19th century ideas, as if the 20th century never happened.

The real irony of all this is that Soros is a perfect example of what the Soviets used to call a "capitalist parasite". He doesn't produce anything, he doesn't create anything, and he uses his money to try to control the political system.

Byron York went into excellent detail on this in his "The Vast Left-Wing Conspiracy." Among other things Soros and the gang covered John Podesta in lucre to build his Center for American Progress, but in contrast to the Heritage Foundation (and York helpfully provides the reader with comparative lists of their output) Podesta's hastily-assembled outfit simply churned out masses of rancid talking points and juvenile hit-pieces. There was no comparison whatsoever.

The heart of York's thesis was that these people and their various talking-shops, media mouthpieces, and internet sites basically spent the campaign talking to each other. I would add one more thing that York seemed to miss but Rush and others picked up on. These people are so extreme and nasty that the more they take over the dem party, force dem politicans to dance to their tune and blast their rabid messages out, the more they drive normal thinking people away. There is no room for differences of opinion with leftys. You either genuflect before their entire canon or you are excommunicated.

The chapter about MoveOn.org and it's hateful antics was an eye-opener. It's amazing how much influence they now exert over the dems. All that money is just greasing those skids heading for the trash chute. And they still think it's just a matter of fooling enough of us enough of the time. "Rebranding" indeed!

the Democrats, who brand the Republicans as the party of the rich

Sometimes Democrats brand Republicans as Haliburton plutocrats who run the universe. At other times Democrats brand Republicans as poor ignorant slack jawed rednecks featured in the film Deliverance.

Based on every Liberal argument I've ever heard, this would be more appropriately titled "Liberal Feel Tank." As in: "My neighbor owning a handgun makes me feel uncomfortable, so I want to ban them."

I just read Unholy Alliance : Radical Islam and the American Left by David Horowitz, and his point was that with the fall of the USSR leftwingers have no model to defend of a putatively socialist society. And this actually is liberating for leftists, who now simply attack capitalism and the US without any pretense that they have anything better to offer. Pure nihilism, pure destructiveness.

So the bottom line of leftism is revealed - it is infantile rage at a system which is practical and does not provide instant gratification of their fantasy of supremacy over the mere doers who make the world work.

What with all the things run by electricity and gasoline, and all the things made of plastic that we enjoy, and all the modern health care we enjoy (I for one was told by a doctor that if I had been living a century ago the simple procedure I needed wouldn't have been invented yet - and I would have died), the American secretary today wouldn't jump at a chance to live the life of Queen Victoria (1819-1901).

That is the record of practical benefit of the the capitalist system. The only thing a leftist think tank can do is to invent new ways to make their criticisms seem more important than that reality. We here at FR are a think tank in our own right, and if the government doesn't shut us down we'll debunk those "creative" lies as fast at Soros can manufacture them.

Neo-Progs* are reactionaries, who want to resurrect Socialism's "glory" days.

*Neo-progressives, rhymes with Neo-Frogs.
