Actress: 9/11 our fault

By MAGGIE HABERMAN DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

Maggie Gyllenhaal

Actress Maggie Gyllenhaal, star of a new flick about the aftermath of 9/11, believes the United States "is responsible in some way" for the devastating terror attacks. Gyllenhaal, 27, made the comments at the Tribeca Film Festival, where her new movie "The Great New Wonderful" - which has a plot centered on the destruction of the World Trade Center - premiered Friday.

"I think what's good about the movie is that it deals with 9/11 in such a subtle, open way that I think it allows it to be more complicated than just, 'Oh, look at these poor New Yorkers and how hard it was for them,'" Gyllenhaal told the NY1 cable channel.

"Because I think America has done reprehensible things and is responsible in some way and so I think the delicacy with which it's dealt allows that to sort of creep in," she added.

Too many ways to respond, none of them nice.

"Because I think America has done reprehensible things . . ."
And what might those "things" be, Maggie? Have you ever noticed that when it comes to specifics, these blame-America types are clueless?

"Because I think America has done reprehensible things and is responsible in some way and so I think the delicacy with which it's dealt..."

I believe that she is a bit careless with the word "think". It's not like she actually "thinks" beyond the superficial and the "delicate".

By-the-way, Maggie, "reprehensible" is a very strong word, normally reserved for actions that are disgusting, obnoxious, and of course hateful.

You sound like just another NON-thinking, America-hating progressive who has no idea (back to that "thinking" thing) how good you have it, and how bad things would be if you ever got your way.

Good luck getting me to watch anything that you are in.

We're all just a bunch of little Eichmann's.

Maybe she should visit ground Zero with a fireman.

Look at the bright side.
Now she'll have to start thinking seriously of getting a real job.

Actually, we ARE responsible -- for having lax security and immigration measures, and for allowing Clinton-appointed clowns like Jamie Gorelick to cripple our intelligence efforts. There are jealous crazy people in the world who measure their success by the damage they cause. To them, the US is a magnet. Our government has been incredibly irresponsible by not preparing for efforts like these.

Even GWB isn't all clean on this one. Beefing up Homeland Security, intelligence, and the FBI while not securing the borders is like taking antibiotics while leaving an open skin wound unbandaged.

This is too bad, she was good in "Secretary". But she is joining the wrong side on this. Other stupid liberal comments like, "All we have to do is not make them angry" seem to sum it up.

Sorry, they whipped up there anger for us out of the interpretation of their religion. This was not our doing, (we did not give them this interpretation). When you are faced with a ruthless and angry enemy, they will do bad things. Constently giving in to the demands of such an enemy only emboldens them. The only thing we could have done to prevent 9-11 was to bring the war to them sooner. Somehow I don't think this is how she meant it.

Well, we're up to 10 "love letters" on her website. BTW, I didn't see any posts that didn't tear her a new A-hole. Here's my little contribution:

• I'm sure when they scripted your statements about 9/11, everybody thought they were "wonderful." Guess what? NORMAL people, the people who pay money to see your dreck, think your "enlightened" statement is horse crap. Brilliant career move.

Anybody heard from Jeanne Garofolo, Susan Sarondon, or Ed Asner lately?

Osama Bin Maggie sounds like she'd be a perfect marriage match for one of the Bin Laden clan! She's already got their political talking points down cold. And Maggie even had the chutzpah to lecture the American viewing public within blocks of ground zero, no less.

-The 27-year-old vaulted to stardom after appearing in "Secretary" as a mousy assistant.-

Really? Never heard of her.

-"I think what's good about the movie...-

She thinks. Har! Good one!

OH yah! Just another airhead starlet wannabe who can't articulate a cogent thought without a script. And another so-called star whose movies I will not see.

Oh she just heard from me... and it looks like many others as well. I wonder how long it will be until her forum is shut down like Baldwin's "guestbook" was!

"Because I think America has done reprehensible things and is responsible in some way..."

So is she saying that since the "Muslim religion of peace" has done reprehensible things, they are responsible for the actions of the US

... in hunting down other Muslim militants?

...the US going after Saddam?

...etc?

That would teach her some values!
