Actress: 9/11 our fault

By MAGGIE HABERMAN DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

Maggie Gyllenhaal

Actress Maggie Gyllenhaal, star of a new flick about the aftermath of 9/11, believes the United States "is responsible in some way" for the devastating terror attacks. Gyllenhaal, 27, made the comments at the Tribeca Film Festival, where her new movie "The Great New Wonderful" - which has a plot centered on the destruction of the World Trade Center - premiered Friday.

"I think what's good about the movie is that it deals with 9/11 in such a subtle, open way that I think it allows it to be more complicated than just, 'Oh, look at these poor New Yorkers and how hard it was for them,'" Gyllenhaal told the NY1 cable channel.

"Because I think America has done reprehensible things and is responsible in some way and so I think the delicacy with which it's dealt allows that to sort of creep in," she added.

In today's America, people seem actually interested in the political and social "thinking" of minstrels, jugglers and clowns which is essentially what these people are. It's occurred to me that many folks will accept any damned fool idea as long as it's cleverly written as the "hook line" in some pop song.

Maggie, if you live to be 100, make dozens of movies, and become the greatest actress in the world, I shall never pay one dime to watch anything in which you have performed. When are Americans going to stop listening to the political comments of celebrities? As often as not, they are among the least educated among us.

James Spader should've spanked her harder in the movie Secretary.

I thought we finished talking about this 'plain Jane moran' last night. I was hoping last night's thread was the *first* and last I would ever hear of her.

Yes, it is partly HER fault, being a Hollywood actress.

If she feels that strongly about it, perhaps she should hop on a plane, go over to the Middle East, and turn herself in to Al Qaeda so that she, as an American, can be properly punished for her "crimes".

At no other time in history have entertainers been considered anything more than marginalia.

That had better be an apology in her mouth.

Can we get that broken glass that Janeane Garofalo said she was going to crawl through on her hands and knees???

Too bad she couldn't have sacrificed herself in place of the victims of 911.

But perhaps now, she could go over to Iraq, Syria, etc. and try to make up with the terrorists for all of our 'terrible' deeds.

I wonder how she would feel about the role of her life on her knees with a sword at her neck.

Allah Akhbar Maggie.

Blame in on the Dutch. I don't think they'll mind. After all if they hadn't cheated the Indians out of Manhatten the whole chain of events could have been prevented. That makes about as much sense. Didn't the Indians actually cheat the Dutch since it was another nation that owned Manhatten?

Irrelevant sums it up.

Tell Maggie that to be thought a fool is one thing, but to open her pie hole to remove all doubt is moronic.

Maggie- You are an idiot. In fact the slime that is under the tree in the swamp is smarter than you. The very top carnivores in the food chain will not instinctively eat you for they know in a deep biological mystery, that you are stupid in a very bad way. In fact Maggie- you are the Marburg Virus of stupidity. Due to your horrific and testicular shuddering level of stupidity I am going to offer you some help my liberal thespian.

1. Wipe from behind.
2. Brush then spit.
3. Look from right to left when crossing the road- not up and down.
4. If the authorities allow you in the UK look left to right.
5. Please move to Canada.

Who in the world is that? I rarely go to movies anyway (because they are typically not at all entertaining or worth the time and expense), but thanks for the heads up on this......."actress".

One must really lead a uniquely fortunate life, if the only tragedies thrusted upon them are those wherein the victim "is responsible in some way".

Even more foolish is the person who has been so fortunate projects their experience as the environment for all others in humanity.

To your # 16:

///I'm sure that Maggie Gyllenhaal never had a problem with Clinton breaking the UN arms embargo and shipping $800 million in arms to the Muslims in Bosnia via Iran.///

Or for not pointing out the do-nothing president Clinton when we were attacked in so many other ways.

This noodnig can be a candidate for the Media Research Center's "I'm not a political genius, but I play one on TV" award.

BTW, Janeanne Garafolo won the award this year for that category. Runners-up were Camryn Manheim and Madonna.
