Man Arrested For Spitting [large amount of tobacco juice] On [the face of] Jane Fonda

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --

Police said they arrested a man for spitting on Academy Award winning actress Jana Fonda during a book-signing stop in Kansas City Tuesday night.

Fonda, 67, spoke at Unity Temple, in The Plaza shopping district, about her new book, "My Life So Far" and her new movie with Jennifer Lopez called "Monster-In-Law."

At about 9 p.m., police said a man who had been waiting in line for about 90 minutes, passed a book to Fonda and then spit a large amount of tobacco juice into her face.

Thy said the man then ran away and was taken into custody by off-duty officers, who were providing security for the event.

Fonda declined to prosecute the man for allegedly spitting in her face.

Michael A. Smith, 54, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, which is a city charge.

She should have explained herself instead of being such a cat about it. Others have been very nice to me and have explained their opinions to me and I have changed my opinions at times because of that. I signed on here to learn. I like a good debate. I do not like it when I am attacked personally. Nor do I like it when I am ridiculed as I have been over this. I have never seen JLO posting on any thread before. It was a short episode/conversation.

Someone pinged/posted Hanoi Jane's cell phone number on a thread a couple of months or so before election 2004. She was in New Mexico as I recall, trying to get NM for Kerry.

I called her right away and heard a woman's voice answer "Hello?"

I said "Hello, is this Hanoi Jane? I just wanted you to know that I support President Bush 100%" .....

She said something like "What is wrong with you people - calling me like this?" Something like that.

Well, it was juvenile and puerile but probably well worth facing a (misdemeanor) disorderly conduct charge.

I thought you were after me because I did not think Jane Fonda deserved any recognition or awards. Anyway, everyone has told me that you are a longtime Freeper and a good Republican. Your probably right about the number being changed, but just in case, tell her you are a "journalist" from FR and would like her opinion on the chewing tobacco incident. Who knows, maybe you can get an exclusive. LOL

I saw the UGH, and had no ****ing idea what it meant. All I could see was that you two were arguing with each other and screeching at each other, with her calling Fonda a traitor and I couldn't tell why you were antagonizing each other. I could see from your earlier posts that you had no respect for Fonda, and could not understand why you two were going at each other. And every time she said something to the effect of "Jane Fonda is a traitor that we should not honor" you replied with something to the effect of "Why don't you read up a little on the history of this issue." It is actually rather easy to see why she thought you were a Fonda fan based on your replies to her while the rest of us could see from your other comments that you despise Fonda as much as anyone else around here does.

In my humble opinion, the two of you need to sit down and calmly explain yourselves to each other. A good place to start might be to say something along the lines of "I'm sorry that my posts to you might have given the wrong impression of my position regarding Fonda..."
