Fonda, 67, spoke at Unity Temple, in The Plaza shopping district, about her new book, "My Life So Far" and her new movie with Jennifer Lopez called "Monster-In-Law."
At about 9 p.m., police said a man who had been waiting in line for about 90 minutes, passed a book to Fonda and then spit a large amount of tobacco juice into her face.

Fonda declined to prosecute the man for allegedly spitting in her face.
Michael A. Smith, 54, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, which is a city charge.

What's your point? It is okay to engage in treason by siding with the enemy in a time of war but spitting is a no no?

First of all, she NEVER apologized for her traitorous behavior in time of war, and you know it, so you are defending the indefensible here.
Secondy, what does being a female have to do with anything? And you are right, I would never has spit in her face.....I would have pissed on her leg while she was looking down and signing the book for me.
Every VietNam Vet has had a dream to spit in her face, including my deceased husband, who was a VN vet. She deserves every bit of spittle she gets.

Go back and watch it again. He hit a man, not a woman. The Duke spanked his (estranged) wife in that film, but he never slugged a woman.

Jane Fonda declined to press charges. That tells me she understands what the reason was.

In general that's right, however Wayne was very patriotic and IMO he would have made an exception for Hanoi Jane.

If the woman were a member of an anarchist terrorist sect like the SLA, he would be well advised to.
Some women are not due courtesy. Women can kill and assault men too. I've known some with black eyes who threw no punch and never hit.
Battered women who turn to lesbians make this same mistake in thinking that they are "safe".
