HYATTSVILLE, Md. - A nun who was ordered by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger to stop ministering to gays and lesbians called his election as pope "devastating" for those who believe the Catholic Church needs to be more tolerant on social issues such as homosexuality. advertisement Sister Jeannine Gramick said the choice of Ratzinger, who as the Vatican's guardian of doctrine silenced her and Father Robert Nugent in a 1999 order, will likely prevent the church from "moving into the 21st century and out of the Middle Ages." Yes, she joined and now she wants to change the rules of the game.
How do you know he will only be around for a few more years? Do you have an inside track?
He just turned 78 years old.
My dad lived to be 90 years old. That's 12 years and if he lives longer that's a bonus.
Yes, she could and I wish they all would start their own religion if they are not happy with the Catholic Religion. No one is twisting their arms to stay. they SHOULD begin their new religion ... that's a GREAT idea. Then we wouldn't have to listen to their constant whining and belly achin...priests, nuns, congregations, whatever. Theya re free to leave anytime they want. Now sounds like a good idea to me.
Yes and Satan can go directly back to hell and burn forever.
And keep the poofters away from the Altar Boys!
Rule One: No Poofters (in Holy Orders)
When I clicked the link and saw Scrappleface, I thought maybe they'd better have waited until Kerry said something -- he might just lift their piece (which undoubtedly reflects his feelings) and then they'd have to start from scratch! :-)
Yeah. I was looking at all the other 15 popes with the name "Benedict," and it looks like the average time they have the office before they die is about 4 or 5 years.
Just my $0.02 worth.
She is speaking on WMAL now.
(Denny Crane: "Sometimes you can only look for answers from God and failing that... and Fox News".)
Try again after you've graduated.
"I rather doubt that the nun was told to stop ministering to anyone."
I agree. Every once in a while we ALL need "ministering". (God knows that I do {every once in a long, long, long while}).
The line is drawn, except the MSM, in its quest to legitimize homo relationships, continues its attempt to portray religious conservatives as out of the mainstream.
BBC radio had her on a show with ridiculously blatant "false balance." Gramick holds herself well in conversation, so they put her up against a professor who stumbles over his words--a veritable bumbling don. Knowing I would only be annoyed, I simply turned it off.
She is going to be on "Hardball" in a few moments.
Hmm. I thought they *were* supposed to be ministered too according to the catechism. I'll look it up.
I get sick of this kind of criticism. Basic morality is timeless and will never change. Unless a heretic becomes pope the church will NEVER change their stands on these issues. And shouldn't.
Chastity and homosexuality
2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,141 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."142 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.
2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.
2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.
Sound like a charter to minister to homosexuals to me. Then again, I'm not Catholic and it might be that she was actually told to keep the first part that homosexual acts can in no way be approved.
She already has, she worships herself.
