OK..here's what we know..Senate is in recess for the weekly party caucus luncheons. Supposed to resume at 2:15. on C-span 2.. The Foreign Relations committee is supposed to meet at 2:45 to vote on the Bolton nomination. Lugar has refused requests for a delay. Just before the Senate recessed, Reid objected to Frist's UC request for the Froeign Relations committee to meet today. Frist withdrew his request..

You know, Voinivich gains both ways........his alleged busy excuse gives him brownie points w/his dem friends/colleagues in giving them what they want and he has not yet said he'd not vote for Bolton, so he's holding on to his Rep friends/colleagues.

HOWEVER, he's toast for 1)not doing his job and for 2)blind siding Lugar instead of getting up to speed and/or notifying Lugar BEFOREHAND.

Reuters

""""Senate Panel Delays Vote on Bolton for U.N.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee delayed a vote on the nomination of John Bolton as U.N. ambassador after a Republican senator said he was not prepared to vote for him on Tuesday and cast the nomination in doubt.

"I've heard enough today that I don't feel comfortable about voting for Mr. Bolton," Ohio Sen. George Voinovich (news, bio, voting record) said, stunning fellow Republicans who were set to push the contentious nomination through the committee on a party-line vote.

Without Voinovich's support, Bolton's nomination faced being bottled up in the committee on a 9-9 tie vote that would not advance it to the full Senate.

Democrats contend Bolton, currently the top U.S. diplomat for arms controls and an outspoken critic of the United Nations, has displayed a pattern of abusive behavior toward subordinates and tried to force intelligence analysts into writing their analyzes to suit his views.

They pressed to delay the committee's vote to give lawmakers more time to consider information that became available since last week's confirmation hearings.

After Voinovich's comment, Sen. Richard Lugar (news, bio, voting record), the Indiana Republican who chairs the committee, agreed to put the vote off until after the Senate returns from a one-week recess in early May."""

Let us all start to be positive. It is not us up there with all this bull--it being thrown at us. Remember Bolton is a tough, tough guy and will weather this, he will not withdraw his name and George Bush should not either. It is time to shove this crap back down the dirty dems throats.

If I heard correctly, Hagel only said he'd vote Bolton OUT OF COMMITTEE......see Congressman Billy Bob's #1332 above. Hagel's the biggest rat fink, IMHO.

Okay, I'm back and understand that the Senate is delaying a vote for Bolton. When WILL the vote happen, do we know?

Here's an AP article about it.

IMHO. Voinivich's comments gave Hagel the cover to withdraw his pledge to vote for Bolton. Any way you scratch it, the White House has to start hurting, and hurting bad, all Republicans who get off the reservation on any vote that the White House deems critical. That's the equivalent of the British system of party line votes on issues that would otherwise bring down the government.

I wonder which other committee kept 'Voinoswitch" away from the Bolton hearing?

Voinovich, George (R-OH)
Committee on Environment and Public Works
Committee on Foreign Relations
Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs
Select Committee on Ethics

The ONLY thing the DIS and the few spineless RINA have to do is VOTE AGAINST anything President Bush puts up. They don not want to do the work of the people. This is all about them being spoiled rotten rats.

We are winning the war and tossing down your arms when you lose a battle is not the way to keep doing that.

Cannot argue with the logic of that. We need to find a way to put some steel in the spines of the weaker links and get rid of the truly problematic, like Hagel and McCain.

Here's the answer, right in the article.

Vote delayed until Senate comes back from recess in May.

After Voinovich's comment, Sen. Richard Lugar, the Indiana Republican who chairs the committee, agreed to put the vote off until after the Senate returns from a one-week recess in early May.

'This ought to be indictable.' -- Sen. Dodd.

Is this the same Senator Dood who got drunk with Ted Kennedy and felt up that waitress while he and Teddy did a waitress sandwich routine...what happened to his boys will be boys attitude?...Bolton is alleged to have thrown something at a woman in anger...he never groped a woman who was merely serving him lunch...

BTW I also very clearly remember Dodd coming out on 9/11 and rushing to the camera saying that the terrorists had probably been planning the attack for 6 months...he was trying to lay it at GW's door to spin the story and responsibility away from the Democrats...I absolutely HATE this man.
