OK..here's what we know..Senate is in recess for the weekly party caucus luncheons. Supposed to resume at 2:15. on C-span 2.. The Foreign Relations committee is supposed to meet at 2:45 to vote on the Bolton nomination. Lugar has refused requests for a delay. Just before the Senate recessed, Reid objected to Frist's UC request for the Froeign Relations committee to meet today. Frist withdrew his request..
"They found the weak link on that committee....and they have blocked Bolton.....look for his name to be pulled."
Sickening.
More fallout of Powell's convincing Bush not to "out" the UN and France back in mid 2003. Kerry's warm-hugs-UN memes gained permanent traction.
Did Bush do one thing to push Bolton along? Maybe he'll sacrifice Bolton for some mushy consent about something to do with social security. It may not seem to us like a fair trade, but for people like Kerry elite world opinion is very important.
Bolton may want to stay and fight this..he doesn't seem like a quitter...
I agree that the judges are more important. This thread was probably widely viewed as a warm-up, indicative of what will follow in the other.
I hope Lugar goes to him and says, "I wish you'd kissed me. I like to be kissed before I get f*cked."
That's what I'm trying to figure out. It had nothing to do with hearing icky wicky things at the meeting. They've been all over. I assume he thinks he is going to get something out of it, but can't think what that might be. I really think Lugar should have been on top of this.
It won't matter....in two weeks....Hagel will object..then when he is appeased.....Chaffee will want his ...etc,etc.etc.
because the white house political operation doesn't affirmatively keep "our guys" in line on these issues. why does a senator from a state that Bush won to give him the presidency just a few months ago, pull a stunt like this? My bet is that no one from the white house has talked to Voinovich about this nomination even one time.
Folks, turning our back on the Republican Party is throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
We should be working to target and get rid of the RINOS. I won't be giving to the RNC anymore. I'll target my money toward specific races and specific candidates, so that RINOs don't get a dime and I get more bang for my buck.
LOL. That was pretty much my thought. Go get 'em, Rush.

Not only do you have that right, I'd bet cash on it.
Of that I have no doubt.
Lugar caved. :(Bird dookie!!
I don't think BOLTON's confirmation out of committee has a thing to do with this thread. Mainly I see it as the Dims controlling whatever they want, AS THE MINORITY. The absolute disgust many have with RINOs and the weakness of the GOP Committee Chairman has many, like myself, livid.
I used up my bandwidth to watch this on c-span. I could either freep or watch. How sickening. We knew they were getting some live input from the Whitehouse...what gives here? I want to see the memos.
Methinks this is all about getting the LOST Treaty passed.
With only a 10-8 Republican edge it takes 10 loyal Republican Senators. Lugar doesn't have 10 loyal Senators, but that's not his fault.

Sandy, you're exactly right about that. Problem is, who knew there were this many RINOs? We need to start keeping a running list just to keep up.
Oh, it's over; they now *know* how to do this to ALL of Bush's nominee.
There only problem, as Pukin and I see it, is that they continually keep raising the bar and, as Pukin said, they're going to have to accuse Scalia of murder.
Who in their right mind would think for a second that the RINOs will stand up for President Bush's nominees after today?
This is it, I certainly don't expect any Conservatives elevated to the appellate or Supreme Court.
I don't even see them breaking the filibuster, we just watched Biden set the terms right in front of wimpy-ass Lugar.
The RINOs don't have what it takes to govern, case closed.
fair enough. but the time to speak with Voinovich was BEFORE this hearing you would think.
