Posted on 04/19/2005 11:07:48 AM PDT by ken5050
OK..here's what we know..Senate is in recess for the weekly party caucus luncheons. Supposed to resume at 2:15. on C-span 2.. The Foreign Relations committee is supposed to meet at 2:45 to vote on the Bolton nomination. Lugar has refused requests for a delay. Just before the Senate recessed, Reid objected to Frist's UC request for the Froeign Relations committee to meet today. Frist withdrew his request..

I fully agree. Bolton is done. Successfully blocked without even a vote.
How many ways are there to spell pathetic?

the truth is, its better to give to the 527s. there is that 527 now running the ad in favor of conservative judges - a very good ad, good talking points, far better then the white house or RNC can come up with regarding the judges. those 527 ads will do 100x more then the white house or RNC can do - the swift vets proved that.
and for all the folks here "leaving the GOP" - take it easy, we simply have a poor political operation with the current team. we need a better one, that's all. its how we get from where we are now, to a new team, that is the issue.

You should call my stupid Senator, Voinovich, and tell him this.

This was dress rehearsal for how judicial nominee's will be dealt with if Frist pulls the trigger on the Senate rule change. The DNC/MSM/Soros faction will turn up the slime machine full blast and pick off weak-kneed Republican committee members, like Hagel, Chafee and Voinovich.
To: Kerretarded
Have you called Voinovich's office? I did, and was on hold for ever....cowards.

We need a Caesar to smash these weaklings...an assemblage of parvenus and dotards...I feel nothing but contempt for the GOP Senate. The Dems and the Press are all laughing at them, and I would be tempted to join if I weren't so disgusted. It's time to purge the GOP rolls of the RINOs.

I wrote a nasty note on my RNC donation card over the weekend, sent it back at their expense with no check......if everyone did this, they will get the message, unless they want to go broke..........

I really don't care who is our rep to the U.N.,.... It matters that the administration gets to put qualified people in place, but you need to think about the bigger picture and how the dem strategy is being honed to take on other issues or people that you might feel inclined to care about.
It matters because if the President can't get his nominees approved with a 54-seat Senate in his favor, what the heck can he do???? And what is the point of even being the majority?
To: ken5050
Why did Voinovich blindside his own Prwesident, and his own chairman, at the last minute? That's what makes no sense..If he wanted to delay..he could have told Lugar before the meeting , and Lugar could have given the Dems two more weeks, and looked statesmanlile and bipartisan doing so.. EXCELLENT Question
This SMELLS!

I just wrote to my wimp of a Senator, and strongly voiced my views about his weakness.
I don't suppose he cares what Ohio conservatives think, but my opinion of him dropped even further today.........

Wrong..Bolton can't, and won't, withdraw, he has to confront these false allegations and show they are baseless..otherwise he lets the smear win. Bolton ain't a quitter..this could, COULD just possibly, turn out well for the GOP.. Bolto might well insist on coming back, in a public hearing to defend himself and let the Dems have it..(there I go again..trusting that Lucy won't pull the football before I kick it)

No, that wont happen. Bush will find out what Voinovich wants and if he can, he will give it too him. It could be a Defense appropriation, or some funding issue. Who knows what? But for him to pull this stunt this way, it means he is trying to make himself heard.
Because of Chaffee and Hagel, Bush cant just shove a foot up his ass. He will have to give him something and in two weeks we will get our way unless Hagel pulls the same stunt.

Unbelievable.
I guess there's no need to vote R anymore.

Not sure why so many are getting hysterical over this. I really don't care who is our rep to the U.N., folks. They can drag this out for all I care. It's a joke. Its a UN ambassador FCOL.It's the rape, not the position that counts. It's the Dems sending the message, "We can screw you wherever and whenever we please."
Bolton will probably spit on the process, like Estrada did. Who needs this sh!t? IMO Bolton is done and the Republicans in Congress have lost precious ground---because their leaders surrendered it.
To: CharlesWayneCT
If we had kicked the RINOS out, then we would have had only 51 seats, but we would have actually had majorities on committees that would vote for us.

Good point. That would require some political savvy and chutzpah tho.. and we are talking the Senate GOP. ;-)
