President Kwasniewski - the next UN Secretary General? 18.04.2005
Polands president Aleksander Kwaniewski is considering running to become the next UN secretary general.
Some opposition parties claim that they would be ready to support Kwaniewski's candidature. "If the UN is going to change into a more active institution, then it would be quite a challenge and an interesting experience for me," said the President.
The elections for a new UN secretary general have been scheduled for 2006. The Polish president's candidature looks as thought it would be supported by the U.S. and it would have to be accepted by the Polish government.
It is most probable that the decision would be made by the new, most probably right wing cabinet. Meanwhile, there is no agreement in this matter between the potential coalition parties. The Civic Platform wants to support the President, but Law and Justice claims that, "It would not promote a communist."
I'd love to see the UN take a Kofi break.
Poland shares more ideals and values with America than many other countries in the world. I don't much about this guy, is he a communist?
Let's hope this is not the case.
Oh, gawd, another "buy-me-a-vowel" Polish name to mangle and misspell.
Interesting. Not sure I could support anything the UnUnited Nations does, but a Pole at the top is 100 times better than what's there now.
UN in its present form is a disaster, no matter who is the president. It's up for a complete overhaul if it wants to retain any credibility. Having countries like Sudan or Cuba sitting on UN Human Rights Commission is an absurd. The history of UN shameful resolutions against Israel as "occupier" who opresses Palestinian "Human Rights", while ignoring or paying lip service to the real Human Rights abuses across the World, including Islamic and African countries. For many years, UN has been serving as a platform for the variety Leftist or Islamist terrorist organizations. UN also has a penchant for blaming the West (esp. US) in the plight of "Third World" which is morally repugnant considering that much of the Third World Countries have grossly corrupt rulers. The string of scandals associated with UN (i.e. just recent Oil for Food scandal) and number of other abuses make the need for UN overhaul more urgent than ever.
If Kwasniewski or anyone else will just preside over this body without doing something to shake it up completely, then any new appointment to the UN is useless.
I suggest we push for John Bolton as the next UN Secretary General.
He might actually be able to make some headway at reforming the UN into a productive, credible organization.
The UN needs to be come a less active organization, while being more effective in a narrower role.
And immediately firing Bill Clinton as envoy for moral degredation.
Thirty years hard labor for Kojo Annan, burial in a fire ant mound for the peacekeeper pedophile predators.
And lease the bottom ten floors to the USO for a dollar a year.
Here's the press conference announcing the successful negotiations:
Actually Kvasnyevsky sounds a lot like Alexandr Nevsky (without Kvas part) -:))))))
Anyway, I think UN should be completely overhauled first before we can give a serious consideration who will be heading it.
Geez... This would be a shame for a whole nation !
Well, that move would increase the average IQ of both the Polish government and the UN.
I think they should get Moammar Qaddafi for the next Secretary General.
Maybe Putin ?
