Ann Coulter epitomizes the way politics is now discussed on the airwaves, where opinions must come violently fast and cause as much friction as possible, TIMEs John Cloud claims in this weeks cover story.
No one, right or left, delivers the required apothegmatic commentary on the world with as much glee or effectiveness as Coulter, Cloud writes (on newsstands Monday, April 18).
It is almost impossible to watch her and not be sluiced into rage or elation, depending on your views. As a congressional staff member 10 years ago, Coulter used to help write the nations laws.
Now she is far more powerful: she helps set the nations tone. TIMEs Cloud had unprecedented access to Coulter.
He goes more than 6,000 words.
And he appears to come away liking her.
"On TV or in person, you can trust that Coulter will speak from her heart. The officialdom of punditry, so full of phonies and dullards, would suffer without her humor and fire. Which is not to say you don't want to shut her up occasionally," Cloud notes.

When are they going to get married already? drudge radio ping and ann coulter fanatic ping ;-)
I thought ther was a mandatory picture rule on this subject.
WOO HOO!!
Why would she do an interview with a DNC rag?
Ann is only hot like an average girl in a Ferrari is hot. She IS above average in looks, but if she didn't lean so far to the right, everyone here wouldn't have given her the time of day.
And I worry about her health re: eating disorders. Not only would she be a lot closer to being goddess-quality hot with 15-20 more pounds, she looks like she's about 12 months removed from Auschwitz. I hope it's truly metabolic, and not something psychological.
These will be used to hurt her:
"most of what I say, I say to amuse myself and amuse my friends. I don't spend a lot of time thinking about anything beyond that."
Coulter told me that when her editor suggests cutting a line from a column to save space, "I'll ask him, 'But is it funny?' And if he says it's funny, I'll cut an actual fact [instead]."
As with Limbaugh, the best They can do is minimize her as a self-centered joker, no one to take seriously. Not like thoughtful, nuanced liberals, who really ought to be making the big decisions for us all.
Not everyone likes fat women.
To TRY and hurt her. I doubt they will succeed.
Nonsense.
Ann is 43 years old.
She looks 25, maybe 30 on the outside.
The simple fact is how you age is one of the best indicators of health, mental and physical.
Well, it won't hurt her feelings, if that's what you mean.
But liberals get/got nowhere saying "Ann Coulter! She's a demon! I hate her!" Just ups her sales.
But if they can say, "Ah, yes -- Ann Coulter. Very amusing. A bit over the top sometimes, but it's quite a clever little act she's got there."
Hates is better than dismissed.

I saw Ann in person, at the March For Justice in DC in '98. She is very attractive but the woman is TOO thin. Whether it is deliberate or just the way she is, I don't know, but if she would gain a few pounds she would be even better looking.
It's the whole package that works for Ms. Coulter. She's attractive, she's got a tongue/pen like a scalpel and a killer sense of humor. That is not average Coop.
I'm still waiting for Michelle Malkin's spread in Maxim.
Bet that is one of the top selling Time's in a while. Ann Rox!!!
