"We know nothing really about her, but by God, Condi is our gal!" --- Anonymous Freeper
I've repeatedly asked here at FR for anyone to tell me *CONDI'S* stand on a number of issues ranging from economics to school prayer.
I have yet to receive one reply to my queries on where Miss Rice stands on a number of issues.
So can someone please tell me, especially you, Section 9, why I should be excited about a possible Condi Rice presidency run?
FYI: Miss R. in my opinion will prove to be an excellent Sec of State. But POTUS? Sorry, unlike a lot of Freepers my vote requires more than a cute smile or even worse, a fanatical appreciation of the Condi stare.
No wonder so many here can't seem to get behind Tom DeLay.
I dunno. By my estimates, black America elected President Bush. Why? They turned out in enough conservative numbers to make his margins in Ohio. Think about it: what used to be taken for granted among Democrats is slipping away! That's got to annoy them.
Another thing you're discounting is the amount of attention Cosby gets when he speaks. Watch him on PBS sometime. I saw him threaten to punch "Rev." Jackson the last time he was lecturing his fellow citizens. Jackson was tugging at his sleeve trying to interrupt him. You should have seen the audience on the edge of its seat, and how they cheered and whooped when he told them they needed to monitor their children, and keep them off drugs, and keep their manners in line.
I wish we had white family leaders with as much street cred as Cosby.
Probably not, the Dems win in predominantly black areas by HUGE margins, shrinking the dems from getting 90% of the black vote to 88% of the black vote won't have much effect, if they were a market for a product that would still be a strong monopoly share.
And what do you know someone that is going to overturn Roe vs. Wade?
And that's been a problem for a long time. Nixon said it was something the GOP needed to fix after 68 (which was the first time the dems got the majority of the black vote). Unfortunately instead of listening to Nixon and trying to do something about it they just kind of wrote off the black vote, it'll take decades to swing the balance. Every little bit helps and I'm all for continuing the effort, but it's not going to change the picture for 08.
What happened to section9's Condi-Bush vs. Jihad picture?
Personally, I think Frist is probably the best of a fairly weak bench.
Not so. It was a very close election with Kerry winning 251 electoral votes and garnering more popular votes than any candidate in history except for GWB.
Kerry was running against an incumbent wartime President; was rated the most liberal senator from the most liberal state in America; was uncharismatic as a candidate with no national name recognition; had a phony war record; engaged in treasonous activities as part of the radical VVAW including meeting with the Vietnamese Communists in Paris twice during the war; testified before Congress that our troops were war criminals and drug addicts; and had a nut case of a wife.
Despite all of this, Kerry received 59 million votes and came within a wisker of winning the Presidency. If it wasn't for the SBVFT, Kerry would be President.
Using the gay marriage issue to drive a wedge was huge, and I certainly hope it's the begining of the end of Dem dominance of the black vote, but I haven't seen any numbers giving the dems less than a high 80s/ low 90s in the black vote percentage in 04 either. Remember this was a long cycle, the Dems started hunting for the black vote back with FDR and didn't swing past 50% until the 60s and since then have built it to 90%. W put in work last year to make it so that the GOP candidate in 2036 might be able to get more than 50% of the black vote, don't expect a huge swing by 08, that's just not how demographic balances generally change (unless ther's some miracle and somebody gets a tape of Hillary using the N word).
They're already writing off Cosby as a Tom. Who the heck watches PBS, Cosby isn't going to influence black voters from there.
I don't think anybody as old as Cosby has anything even remotely resembling street cred.
Best post of the day, maybe the week, or even the month.
BUMP!
It's all about supreme court appointments.
Let's hope that Hillary never has a chance to appoint anybody to anything.
..given the Right person (any color/female/male), as long as the person understands the problems/solutions needed/the limits of fed. gov can do...the authors; Walter Williams/Shelby Steele would be nice :), but Mr. Steele (OH. A.G.) looks OK, needs a govennorship. Condi Rice needs to run for an elected office...Right now, there's no real stand-outs.
Of course in 1997 who thought George W Bush had a chance in hell.
Really handicapping the next presidential contest before the previous mid-terms is an excercise of pure political masterbation
...FINE ...extract foot from mouth. :)
So you think if Rice were elected that she wouldnt put forward pro-life judges? I think she would.
The above part of the article takes Miss Rice opinion on abortion out of some vague context. Why play games of vague-context-gotcha, when there are very specific things that Miss Rice says that can be quoted that show her opinion on abortion.
I'll repeat it;
I loved Jesse Helms! :)
Mud --
Love your Senator Allen -- signs in OK outside our Convention -- Allen in 08 and then when I was leaving I saw one that said Oklahomans for Allen in 08 and some guy asked me if that was my sign! :)
Yes, I think she would too.
I have no idea who the Republican nominee will be but I can say whoever it is will be a better choice than Hillary.
Yes, even John McCain.
