"We know nothing really about her, but by God, Condi is our gal!" --- Anonymous Freeper
I've repeatedly asked here at FR for anyone to tell me *CONDI'S* stand on a number of issues ranging from economics to school prayer.
I have yet to receive one reply to my queries on where Miss Rice stands on a number of issues.
So can someone please tell me, especially you, Section 9, why I should be excited about a possible Condi Rice presidency run?
FYI: Miss R. in my opinion will prove to be an excellent Sec of State. But POTUS? Sorry, unlike a lot of Freepers my vote requires more than a cute smile or even worse, a fanatical appreciation of the Condi stare.
No wonder so many here can't seem to get behind Tom DeLay.
Pro-returning it to the states.
Might be too risky. Give a third party candidate too much credibility and that candidate just might win.
Does that include the Bush policy on not protecting our borders and accepting all the illegals that can cross?
Frist? His credibility rests entirely upon how he deals with the Dems in this present congress. We will need to see the brown on his nose clear up as the brown on his shoe toes, grows and grows and Dems switching their sitting posture from cheek to cheek, while moaning ouches! and OHs!!!!
As the borders become prominent and people becoming more and more fed up with illegals, I think someone with a strong stand against illegals will have the best chance of defeating Hillary. I think the illegal aliens/borders are going to be a big topic for the next pres election.
sounds like an excellent topic for a poll to me....

I suppose many can't get past the outward appearance of being a black female. That trips many up.

You may be right, but I do not think it is racism it is more a case of conservatism (note that small "C"). When I talk of conservatism, I mean reluctance to make radical changes. This conservatism can be seen on both left and right, Democrat and Republican. A large part of the electorate prefers steadiness to change. For all of our history (for better and worse) presidents have been white males. For many people, having someone who is not white and not male is just too much of a leap into the unknown. I do not believe that any (or at least many) of these people have any racial ill will; they just prefer what they see as the tried and tested.
Condi's problem is that her academic background is not necessarily a good preparation for a political fight. The more reserved, contemplative attitudes that work in academia do not work in the rough and tumble world of political campaigns. Diplomacy can be useful after you have won; it tends to be less useful during the campaign.
Assuming Condi were running (she probably will not), and assuming she were conservative (she probably is) I would have no problem supporting her. Many here seem enthusiastic primarily because she is a black female, and offers some assumed tactical advantage. I am not sure if that attitude is any worse than been against her because of her race and sex.
I think a black president (male of female) could be a tipping point in healing the undercurrent of racial bitterness that still can bubble away in many of our political and social disputes. However, I do not think it should be an explicit goal in choosing a candidate.
I think that our first black president will likely be a conservative, male, Republican (not Keyes, not Powell). Our first female president will be white, liberal and Democrat (not necessarily Hillary). However, if I turn out to be wrong, and our first black and our first female president are the same person, I doubt I, or many here, would have a problem with president Rice.
Bull!
You know fully well what you meant, and this nuance of yours isn't fooling anyone.
Just my opinion, but a deeply religious person wouldn't find 1st and 2nd term abortion acceptable, and only ban 3rd/late term abortions.
Do you consider Cosby a conservative and who do you think he voted for?
But the point swheats raises is a valid one. You can disagree with her point all you want, but it remains valid.
But it sure sounds like FR is developing an early fetish for ankle biting of anyone even remotely apt to be the next presidential candidate. This morning I've read through absurdist rants against Tancredo and now equally silly diatribes against Condi Rice.
It's a bit early to be eating our own.
For what they have done in Congress, or not in Congress but in the name of Congress and the President, I admire DeLay, Tancredo, and Ms. Rice; I'd be happy to support any one of them....and do not feel it either appropriate or constructive to spend three years bad-mouthing one in favor of another unless and until they actually earn it.
PS: This isn't a 'can't we just get along' kind of thing, it's a 'let's worry about the real issues and quit bloviating' thing.
If Hillary is able to convince the electorate that she is a moderate, the electorate is ate up with the dumbass.
Not to worry though-we just dress up the Republican Candidate in a Santa suit and have him/her travel the campaign trail in a sleigh, powered by eight tiny Reindeer, promising lots of toys under the tree on Christmas morning 2008,for every good little boy and girl who votes for Santa .
Polls on a theoretical election always come down to name identification. It's as simple as that.
She thinks pro lifers are the OTHER SIDE.
Sadly this says a lot.
You think someone that is pro abortion would put forth pro life judges? BWAHAAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Condi?
Pro abortion.

She is pro-returning it to the states and stopping all federal funding.
Look up the lady's own words, don't rely on the words of this website that admits:
Is Dr. Rice involved with this web site?
No. In fact, weve never even spoken with her.
I voted for Keyes in our primaries twice. I wouldn't vote for Condi.
