Work will make you sick

Stress and backpain affect workers the most.

A German saying: Work makes you an aristocrat. Guess again, reality is: Work makes you sick. Therefore, every 4th worker eperiences that pressure to perform is placing undue hardship on a worker. Almost every one out of three workers suffers pressure due to hectic, time and demand for deadlines. The physiological problems are demonstrated by muscular and skeletal complaints. 47 % in surveys complain about back pain and even one third of workers under the age of 20 have these problems.

This is the result of a study of over 30 000 respondents in the last few years.

The top 10 health complaints were reported by half the respondents who cited direct links to their work place. Especially stress and psycological dysfunction, as well as physical problems related to muscles and bones were directly linked to their work place. In the production area 20 percent feel over worked.

Among the respondents a better relationship with their superiors would be helpful. They also cite that their superiors should support the workers more than they are. 20% would like to be able to discuss their problems better and different attitude on the part of their bosses would help.

Just thought this "attitude" would be interesting for some of you to try to understand the German mentality toward work. No wonder their social programs are broke, productivity has never been lower and negativity is at an all time high.

Somehow it must be the evil Americans fault? LOL

Given the German appetite for beer, wine, schnapps, and other potables, perhaps this is just a manifestation of the amusing inversion of an old saying:

"Work is the curse of the drinking class."

My wife and I retired because we were sick of working. Retirement is a lot of fun, much better than working.

You're right - retirement is fun. Hubby and I just retired two weeks ago after 20 years at a major aerospace company. He previously had ten years at Diablo Canyon, I had eight at a fiber optics company back East. Plus assorted other jobs prior to that. Hubby is full retirement age, and I'm five years younger. We figured that the time was right for us. We're praying for continued good health for as many years as the Good Lord wants to give us.

I'm 57 and the Mrs is 52. I retired at 48, she retired at 50. It took a lot of convincing! Wow I never thought it would take that much.
