Savage's dirty promotion tactics?

Posted on 04/14/2005 10:34:04 PM PDT by RepublicanAttackMachine

I read somewhere that Savage told his audience to call into Rush's, Sean's, and Mark Levin's radio shows for the sole purpose of promoting his book. Does anyone know if this is true?

I would find it a bit cheap as it is if a general nobody asked their fans to do the same on these 3 men's shows. But someone like Savage, who has spent the last 6 months doing nothing but blasting these three? Its a cheap and dirty tactic, if it is true.

What was the reason for that, not that I listen to him much.

Just enough to realize he really does belong in Frisco.

Savage is an idiot 90% of the time and has the facts wrong 90% of the time.

I try to listen to him every day on the way home and never make the 22 minute drive without turning him off.

He uses the commie tactics of taking an argument and stretching the facts so much it's stretched to almost a lie.

He also keeps saying things Bush should do that he doesn't have the power to do as President.

Whenever he talks about the Military he's way off on the facts it makes me scream at the radio !

You "read somewhere?"

Why don't you do some research and come back and tell us "where," and refrain from posting innuendo?

I don't know, someone said he pull himself off XM radio because he wasn't getting paid by them or something? Or because he doesn't like the new technology? Not sure, as I said haven't listened to him since his cut his own throat.

It's a star complex, something Savage fans think Rush has. Ironic, isn't it?

I only had to listen to Savage for about two days to find out his character, he's rude and arragant and does not treat his callers with any respect, even the ones that say they like him. Not only that, I can't stand his voice, he is not worthy to polish Rush's shoes.

Let Savage top this:

I, Libertine - Making the [Bestseller] List
By Joyce Brabner
June 1, 2000

Late-night radio yarn spinner Jean Shepherd was convinced that the New York Times Best Seller List was a sucker's game. He decided to test his theory.

snip

In 1956, the midnight monologist convinced listeners to ask bookstores for a book that didn't exist. Callers suggested the title: I, Libertine by imaginary author Frederick R. Ewing. Shepherd created the plot and author's bio. Set in England during the 1700s, the historical novel, by an "expert in 18th century erotica," detailed the adventures of Lance Courtnay, courtier and Casanovian rakehell. Ewing was British, Shepherd decided, a BBC radio personality and former World War II commander turned civil servant now living in Rhodesia. Published by a Cambridge University press, he even had a wife, Marjorie, "a horsewoman from the North Country."

snip

Distributors called Publisher's Weekly. The definitive trade mag wrote up the buzz about I, Libertine and it was soon listed in the New York Times Book Review. More articles appeared. There was a backlash. The book was banned in Boston by the Legion of Decency because of its "racy" content — and defended vigorously. College listeners in on the gag submitted apparently erudite research papers on Ewing. The Philadelphia Public Library catalogued the imaginary author, prompting Shepherd to declare "My God! Maybe there was no Chaucer! It could've been some guy 400 years ago, putting on the whole world!"

snip

[A]s weeks passed, the book attracted international interest. More articles appeared and worldwide bestseller lists touted the fake novel.

snip

A Wall Street Journal reporter finally called WOR about Shepherd's open secret and a front-page story appeared the next day, creating a second media sensation.

snip

Ballentine finally did publish I, Libertine. Shepherd and science fiction author Theodore Sturgeon met and decided to team together as "Ewing." All profits went to charity. "Turbulent! Turgid! Tempestuous!" It was a best seller, of course.

I don't particularly like Savage's constant gratuitious trashing of Hannity and Rush. But he's so outstanding sometimes, I try to ignore it. Not to mention, I like an anti-establishment viewpoint in my news diet.

Doug from upland once told me SPAM: Spread Patriotism And Muckraking.

[Not sure what you think about Savage, Doug.]

What does Rush do or Hannity for that matter?? Why they nod yes to anything that anyone says as long as they have an (R) after their name!! Savage is truly an independent conservative!!!!

"His deliberately ignoring the complete lack of evidence that doctor he interviewed was a Nobel nominee while "

Not getting into the debate about Savage and Hannity;I do not consider anyone special if they are nominated for, or are awarded, a Nobel.

The award, even in the sciences, appear to be tied cheek-to-jowl with politics.

Just my opinion.

If you want a laugh, try Boston's Howie Carr (3-7pm EST). His show is now available via streaming audio. He's a conservo-populist, and is at his best when he uncovers graft, or talks about more mundane things like the police blotter.

Sounds like something Hannity would do.

That's a cheap shot. You've got NOTHING to back that up with.

Exactly. By the way, has anyone noticed that Michael Weiner (Savage's real name) has been turning up the heat in his criticism of Rush? He calls him Hush Bimbo... What a disaster he's become. He's the most egotistical maniac I've EVER seen. He DWARFS Hannity in terms of self-promotion of himself and his books.

<< The guy's a genius - but close to being nuts, too. When he goes on a philosophy-of-life riff, he can be startlingly wise and insightful. But he can also have outbursts of self-centered arrogance. >>

Michael Savage is a towering intellect and is talk-radio's brightest and most courageous star!

Doctor Savage has no fear of being known for who he is -- so engages no frontal-lobe filter and wears no mask.

He is the big-brained radio guy for the big-brianed-American Man!

And what you hear is who and what he is.

At a guess I'd say his IQ is the sum of the chain-smoking, drug-addicted Lush, Bimbo's and Shorn O'What's'isname's!
