The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Threat Matrix - Daily Terrorism Threat
Details show extent of terror plot against U.S.
Full Story

We now know more about an alleged attack that triggered an increased national threat level last summer.

That's when U.S. officials said they had uncovered a plot targeting financial institutions. The plot involved bombs, banks and British nationals.

The detail was startling, the targets enormous. They included financial buildings in Washington, New York and New Jersey.

"Border Security -- A Major Citizen Concern Being Ignored"
GOPUSA ^ | May 2, 2005 | Thomas D. Segel

Posted on 05/02/2005 5:40:58 PM PDT by Tolerance Sucks Rocks

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "It happened again last weekend. The Rio Grande Valley of Texas made the news when more than 100 illegal aliens from Brazil were apprehended and then released by the Border Patrol. Why is this worthy of reporting? The main reason... Brazil is identified by our government as a country that could be host to terrorists. This means any illegal entry by people from that country should automatically trigger some serious response by our Homeland Security forces. Instead, these suspect illegals were released on their own recognizance, with a promise they would return for their deportation hearings.

Until recently officials have been telling us that 90% of those illegal immigrants released with instructions to return for court dates have vanished into the American heartland. Now the same officials are saying that only 70% fail to reappear at court hearings. Perhaps they feel the lower percentage of "no-shows" will ease citizen concerns about a border open to all who wish to cross into the United States."

"Cabir spreads to 20 countries"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "It was first discovered in the month of June last year. It uses Bluetooth connectivity to find vulnerable mobile devices in the surrounding and passes itself over. Mikko Hyppoenen, head of anti-virus research F-Secure said: “Once you have one infected phone, it will try to beam itself to other compatible phones… This virus is only traveling when people travel the world”.

The virus however is not as easy to spread as PC based viruses. The potential victim has to accept a connection from the already infected device and than accept a file and run it. Even with this low probability, the virus has managed to spread quite rapidly. Experts blame it on the ignorance of the end user who gets lured by invitations to download and run files pretending to be wallpapers and screensavers."
