MINUTEMEN MULLING HILLARY INVITE (YIKES!!!)
NewsMax ^ | 4/13/05

The lead organizer for the border patrol group the Minutemen said Tuesday that he wants to invite New York Sen. Hillary Clinton to come to the Arizona-Mexico border this month to review their operation, which has so far netted the arrests of more than 300 illegal immigrants.

"We're thinking of inviting Hillary Clinton," Minuteman founder James Gilchrist told ABC Radio host Sean Hannity, adding that he'd already looked into flight arrangements to Arizona for the former first lady and could provide appropriate security.

Gilchrist's decision to invite Clinton was likely prompted by her tough comments on border security - remarks that place her sharply to the right of the Bush administration on the issue.

"I am, you know, adamantly against illegal immigrants," she announced in Feb. 2003 radio interview, adding that "people have to stop employing illegal immigrants."

"I mean, come up to Westchester, go to Suffolk and Nassau counties," Clinton railed. "Stand on the street corners in Brooklyn or the Bronx; you're going to see loads of people waiting to get picked up to go do yard work and construction work and domestic work."

"Clearly, we have to make some tough decisions as a country," the top Democrat urged.

In comments last November, the likely 2008 presidential nominee blasted the Bush administration for turning a blind eye to the problems at the border.

"I don't think that we have protected our borders or our ports or provided our first responders with the resources they need, so we can do more and we can do better," Clinton told the Fox News Channel.

"There's technology now available," she noted. "There are some advanced radar systems. There are biometric and other kinds of identification systems that we've been very slow to deploy and unwilling to spend money on."

Gilchrist said his patrol operation is open to Clinton and anyone else who wants to review its progress, explaining, "When I first launched this in October I insisted that we have open season for all law enforcement to come in and do whatever they want - and the same with the media."

And he pointed out the obvious political benefit for any politician who wants to lend support, noting, "For every [Minuteman] down here we've probably got a hundred thousand supporters across the country."

Gilchrist said the Minutemen have already helped round up scores of illegals.

"About 300," he told Hannity. "And about 40 of those were from an aerial observer who was up six hours yesterday in his aircraft."

Psst, mikey maximus, hillary ain't going to touch your heroes the minutemen with a 10 foot pole.

Probably not. And that a good thing. Here, let me spell it out: This has the potential of a huge win-win. It could both show her to be a liar on this issue, while at the same time scaring the GOP drones into getting serious about this problem. It's great day. :)

"It would get much needed attention and might rattle a few republican cages."

No fan of the Clintonista here, but I agree. Who could blame them? If one side ignores you, then you shouldn't invite the other?

I do have a question, did x42 do anything about the border problem??? Anyone??

Nope, but he and she(co-Presidents) did pardon FALN terrorists.

Oh but wait a minute, hillary made some remarks against illegal immigration and she is the new Queen to those with ethnic animus on FR, never mind.

To them, throw a bone to their cause, good, bring up that hillary helped pardon FALN terrorists, lalalalalala, I don't hear you.

Well they are extremely angry at Hillary for pandering to the right BUT if she wins the nomination they said they WILL Vote for her just so a Repub doesn't get in the White House. So she will get the far left vote. At least that is what I have been reading.

He did about as much/little as Reagan did.

[That blows, doesn't it.]

Reagan signed one of the last amnesty for illegals bills, too, IIRC.

The point is, none have done enough about border control since probably the early 1900's. But in the last decade, it has become more than a minor issue, with the flood of illegals bringing in who knows what. We know terrorists, drug dealers and criminals are amongst them. We are beginning to see that more carrying third-world diseases are also coming in.

We need to control the flow while we still have control. Otherwise, the US will rapidly become another vast third-world nation. Can't happen, you say? The Romans thought theirs would last for thousands of years, too. Who brought their civilization down? The horde of barbarous invaders.

This is brilliant. It puts BOTH sides on the burner---Hillary would have to put up or shut up on immigration, and the GOP would have to move to the right to distance itself from Hillary.

Maybe he had a special novelty Tequilla bottle made, with a hole in the bottom through which he could insert himself in lieu of the usual worm. Not a "problem", but it would surely "BORDER" on gross and not out of the realm of possibilities of what we have come to expect from the boy.

"Like I said before on this thread, ethnic animus makes normal brain functions disappear, IMO."

If that's the case, tell Hannibal Lechter he's made quite a tasty meal of your frontal lobe already...

No need to fry up your cerebral cortex as well.

If the GOP ignores the minutemen, then they don't have a seat at the table, do they? What do you expect? I don't want Hillary to exploit them, but lashing out at me isn't going to stop them or her.

Well, this could be like Jesse Jackson helping Terri Schaivo -- a lfety's one moment of clarity. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day, after all.

If it gets the right kind of attention for the Minutemen, then it's not a bad thing.

I'd still rather that they had also invited someone like Tancredo, however. Wouldn't you love to see THAT press conference?

It see this as a two-fold tactic.

For one, Gilchrist is essentially saying to the Hildebeast to "put up or shut up."

Second, if she does appear, this should embarass congressional Republicans to be crawling all over themselves to come down to show that they're more on top of this issue than the Hildebeast.
