Arab terrorists Saturday night renewed their offensive against Israel, launching 56 Kassam rockets and mortal shells on Jewish towns in Gush Katif after Israeli soldiers killed three arms smugglers.
The IDF has not responded to the mortal shells, which damaged one house without injuring any of the 8,000 Jewish residents in Gaza. Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz said he was worried by the attacks, and terrorists threatened further violence.
The attack on Gush Katif began around 6 p.m. and followed IDF counter-terror actions against five youths who were trying to smuggle arms from Egypt along the Philadelpi Route. Terrorists continued the barrage throughout the evening and early morning hours.
The Arab press reported that the soldiers fired on innocent children who were playing soccer. Mofaz asked the PA to control the terrorists. The PA did not publicize that the youths were trying to smuggle weapons despite Israeli reports that the PA later caught two of them. PA chairman Abu Mazen insisted that the youth "were unarmed and did not endanger Israel."
The Associated Press also reported the Arab version of the incident and added only that the Army reported the youth "entered an unauthorized area near the border and ignored warning shots to stop."
Terrorist organizations immediately announced an end to the co-called cease-fire but later cancelled the declarations. However, terrorists immediately aimed mortar shells on Gush Katif communities in southern Gaza, and one of them fell in the Western Negev. The Islamic Jihad claimed their forces launched the shells, and the Popular Resistance Committees announced it will attack the Negev town of Sderot, where a Kassam rocket was fired Thursday night.
Army sources said that Israel issued a stern warning to the PA to curtail arms smuggling which has continued despite the deployment of PA security forces in the areas.
"We do not exclude the possibility that terrorists are striking because of tomorrow's march [by Jews] to the Temple Mount," according to an Army spokesman. "During the past week, opposition forces in Gaza have tried to escalate the area with Kassam rockets, mortar shelling and sniper fire."
Public Security Minister Gideon Ezra has ordered police to prevent Jews from entering the Temple Mount site on Monday. The Revava organization has planned a march to Judaism's holiest site, and several Arab groups have threatened an immediate war if Israel allows the group to enter the Temple Mount.
The IDF also reported Saturday night that soldiers safely detonated a 20-kilogram (45-pound) bomb that was discovered on the road to the Jewish community of Netzarim, north of Gush Katif.
What a surprise. /sarcasm
The headline misrepresents; actual rockets were just a "few" but the mortor shells represented 95%. This kind of reporting either inflames those in Israel or is met to cheer those who want to destroy Israel. Being over here is not like what you see on CNN. Prudence and staying off the public buses, trains and out of discos prevents being the wrong place at the wrong time most of the time. The arabs are cowards and haven't won a war with a western trained army in our lifetimes....
IDF calls for diplomatic action to stop Palestinian attacks Aaron Lerner Date: 10 April 2005
Israel Radio reported this morning that senior IDF sources call for urgent diplomatic action to halt the ongoing mortar and rocket attacks against Israeli targets in the Gaza Strip. According to Israel Radio over 50 Palestinian mortars and rockets have landed in Israeli locations in the Strip in the last 24 hours.
The IDF is the "Israel Defense Force" - not the "Israel Diplomatic Force."
IMRA asked the IDF Spokesperson's Office this morning if the decision not to return fire or take other military action to stop the Palestinian attacks came from the State level (e.g. prime minister or defense minister) or the military - and if the decision is a military one if it was made by the COS, Southern Commander or the local commanders.
Bunch of crazy mofos living up to their reputation as rabid dogs. You cannot reason with nor negotiate with these lunatics
Islam is totally unproductive in the real world so they jealously attack those who are. The only thing of worth that comes from Arabian countries is oil. And Westerners developed and run their oil operations.
Kumbyah from the Religion of Piece.
There is a limit to what the Israelis are willing to put up with. Hamas & the other Islamic terrorist fanatics are pushing all the wrong buttons.
WARNING: This is a high volume ping list
Were they "moderate" Muslims?
Never a cluster bomb around when you need one.

I sure wish Israel would get off the wimp standard and just eradicate their enemies....once and for all.
