Posted on 04/08/2005 2:01:14 PM PDT by MJY1288

President Bush and the First Lady attended the "majestic" funeral for Pope John Paul II today in Rome. The President and the First Lady, as well as, Poppy Bush are heading for the Ranch as I'm typing this. The President spoke to the Press Pool on the way back from Rome.. It is a must read, I will post a link to the interview

Ummm....er....that isn't Dubya's hand. It belongs to a woman in back and beside him. (Though I wish it was Dubya's hand.)

Yes, I realized my mistake when I looked closer. Someone here realized it was Lovely Laura's hand.

Who would have thought that a Presidential press conference on AF1 would become a wonderfully inspiring, humble testament of a man's simple but genuine faith in God.

Reading the whole AF1 president-press conversation, I was struck by how long the pressies dwelt on the pope's funeral and other aspects of Christianity and spiritual influences. What it said to me is the press was (were?) profoundly affected by it and they desired to talk about it. The tone of the banter was interesting. They sounded different after being in another country and away from the incestuous Washington press milieu. It read to me like some were looking to Bush for spiritual direction and interpretation of all they'd just witnessed.

Sorry, Emily. I didn't read your response #51 before I answered. I will now go sit in a corner and repent.

No..don't do that! YOu were trying to be helpful, nothing to repent about. :) Besides if you're like me I always respond before I have time to read the whole thread, these things always move fast.

PS to previous post. I posted before I read the whole thread. I see some posters have already asked the same question, and there have been some responses.

I notice one person mentioned sensitivity to light, but I've seen numerous pictures of Mrs. Bush in all kinds of indoors venues and she never wore sunglasses indoors before that I can remember. She's often been photographed in places with very bright lights, under television cameras, and so forth, so why St. Peter's? It occurred to me that maybe it is allergies!!!! Maybe she is allergic to the incense?

All that incense can trigger a severe reaction in some people ....

From amazon.com:

Rated: PG
Editorial Reviews

When a shark accidentally clobbers himself, a small fish named Oscar (voiced by Will Smith, I, Robot) just happens to be around, prompting everyone to believe that he killed the shark himself. This lie soon makes Oscar a celebrity, worshipped by the general mass of fish, wooed by a glittering golddigger (Angelina Jolie, Girl, Interrupted), missed by his best friend (Renee Zellweger, Cold Mountain)--and hunted by the godfather of great whites (Robert De Niro, Goodfellas). Can a vegetarian shark named Lenny (Jack Black, School of Rock) get Oscar out of this mess? The formulaic story of Shark Tale never reaches the giddy heights of Pixar's output (Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc., Toy Story) or the freewheeling comedy of Shrek, but it's capably told and impeccably animated--the sheer technical skill is stunning. Kids won't get the mobster jokes or the other pop-culture references, but they'll enjoy it nonetheless. --Bret Fetzer

Viewer review: Oscar (Smith) the fish leads a normal life. He is just an average guy working at the Whale Wash. One day, he wanders into shark territory and is chased by Frankie. Unfortunately for Frankie, the chase ends in his death, not at Oscar's hands, but by pure accident. Oscar sees as an opportunity to "be someone", and quickly takes the credit. The fish world begins to call him the "Shark Slayer", two female fish begin to show their interest, and the shark godfather (DeNiro) makes it his business to find the murderer of Frankie...his son.

"Shark Tale" is yet another animated movie that will appeal to both children and adults. The difference is, this time it almost seems made for adults first and kids second. The most obvious references are to "The Godfather" and "Goodfellas", two movies that no kids should have seen. Also, advertising placement has run amok in this movie. Every way you turn in the city, there are obvious "fake ads" for real products that is very distracting. Most everything in this movie is overkill, in fact.

The voice talents are credible and the animation is good, although I found Oscar to look kind of creepy with his near human-looking face. "Shark Tale" also is nothing like "Finding Nemo", which is both good and bad. Good, because it is not retreading material that is not too old yet. Bad, because "Finding Nemo" was so much better. "Shark Tale" is a decent movie that will be enjoyed by most, and I did laugh a number of times while viewing it ...

No secrets crossed my fingers to the keyboard.

It was the humiliation of reading all the things people said, all the conjectures they came up with on their own about where you were, why you had been avoiding Dose discussion duties, that sort of thing, that I am hoping you will not see.
