Terri Schiavo autopsy completed Her parents, husband planning separate funeral arrangements Saturday, April 2, 2005 Posted: 1540 GMT (2340 HKT) http://edition.cnn.com/2005/US/04/02/schiavo.ap

TAMPA, Florida (AP) -- The autopsy of Terri Schiavo has been completed, and the body is ready for release to her husband, who plans to cremate her remains and bury the ashes in an unspecified family plot.

Results from the autopsy, which was completed Friday, will not be released for several weeks, according to the medical examiner's office.

Michael Schiavo has said he hopes the autopsy will settle questions about his wife's medical condition, but experts differ on whether that will happen. He declined to comment Friday.

Terri Schiavo's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, and Michael Schiavo spent Friday planning separate funerals for the 41-year-old woman, who died Thursday -- nearly two weeks after her feeding tube was removed

Michael Schiavo's family has said he plans to take the cremated remains to Pennsylvania, where Terri Schiavo grew up, but her parents and siblings had wanted to bury her body in Florida so they can visit her grave.

David Gibbs, the Schindlers' attorney, said there have been no further discussions between the two parties about the remains. The Schindlers do not plan to press the issue in court, he said.

"The court has already determined that (Michael Schiavo) will control the burial decisions," Gibbs said.

Michael Schiavo's brother, Scott Schiavo, had said Thursday that the Schindlers might not be informed of the burial location near Philadelphia because his family did not want to turn it into a media spectacle.

However, Michael Schiavo has been ordered by the court to disclose the location of the burial site to the family and inform them of any memorial service he plans.

It has certainly not been thought of as a Christian burial except in very recent times I think. I realize some Christians now do it for financial reasons generally, though.

Fundamental Christianity places very little stock in the entire funeral ceremony. We focus strictly on the soul, which we hope has ascended into heaven. Worshiping someone's grave almost crosses the line into idolatry. Not that we shouldn't be polite about other religious practices, but the entire post death process with the body has no meaning to Fundamental Christians.

P.S. That doesn't mean I don't think Michael is vile scum - because he is.

Judge Greer is a "conservative Republican" like a pedophile priest is a Catholic.

And what is wrong with having the atopsy done the way it is for everyone else? Why is it that everything must be duplicated for the sake of Mr. Shindler? Who pays for it?

The ME's office is corrupt and part of some secret conspiracy too? LMAO! come on!
For an ordinary shmuck, Micheal sure has a lot of pull!!! The State, the judicial system, all these doctors, now the ME's office. I'll bet next it will be the prosecutors office, the police dept. There's just no end!

Funny how words are used these days.

The one on the right is purported to be a 'conservative' [with 'better hair'].

Even Mary Magdeline went to visit the grave where Jesus was buried. It doesn't mean one is worshipping someone's grave to say, but it helps a person in the grieving process to let go, and perhaps to be near a loved ones final resting place, for some it gives a sense of closure that their loved one is no longer with them.

Actually, more pedophile priests are from other dominations, like Anglicans and Protestants than are Catholic. Pedophiles infiltrate any occupation they can where they can have close contact and authority over their victims. teachers, sports instructors, scout leaders, etc.

That's exactly what to worry about with Michael Schiavo. I could see him disgarding Terri's remains somewhere else and no one will ever know.

Any dictionary will tell you that facts are true by definition. What is known here is by and large self serving half truths or downright lies told by people with agendas.

How intriguing.  I'm arguing with someone with whom I somewhat agree.

Anyone familiar with dictionaries will know many words which are very important to us have several to many related definitions.

My old Webster New World Dictionary of the American Language has five. Among them are: something said to have occurred or supposed to be true and an actual or alleged incident or condition.

My even older Webster's Third New International Dictionary has six rather rigorous definitions, among them are:  an assertion, statement, or information containing or purporting to contain something having objective reality and any of the circumstances of a case at law as it exists or is alleged to exist in reality; something proved by the evidence to be or alleged to be of actual occurrence.

So, to repeat the statement, the problem is both sides dispute the other side's facts.

And, I do agree, there are many half-truths, lies and agendas spewing forth.  Because the Schindler's forensic pathologist's request to observe the autopsy was refused by the medical examiner, you can bet those half-truths, lies and agendas will have a long, long shelf life.

In all other cases, it's perfectly fine to do just that. But not Micheal for some reason. His rights as a husband don't seem to count. My mother scattered my fathers ashes at the cabin where he liked to go fishing. None of his brothers and sisters came demanding that they get some too. In fact, I've never hear if it ever happening before.

Mr. Schindler is special for some reason.

It's not a custom around here to keep ashes or locks of hair

Some families of victims of 9/11 felt their pain a little eased by having a little piece to bury. An awful lot got nothing.

I can certainly understand why a catholic family would want some little part of her earthly remains. There's a reliquary with a piece of bone of St. Bernadette in the altar area of the church I converted in, along with a certificate of authenticity. The priest unlocked it and showed it to us.

It is a catholic tradition. It's disrespect for the whole catholic religion not to allow the catholic parents something of her earthly remains to comfort them if for no other reason.

Mr. Schindler is special for some reason.

Father.  That qualifies as special.  In our present society that kind of special does have some serious limitations.

There's another reason Michael has a right to disgard Terri's remains wherever he wants and not tell the Schindlers:

for the same reason he cremated her...
for the same reason he pulled her feeding and hydration tubes...
for the same reason he moved in with another women...
for the same reason he had two kids with that women...
for the same reason he spent almost all the rehabilitation money awarded in 1992 on ghoulish lawyers fighting for her death...
for the same reason he tried to stop her antibiotics in 1993...
BECAUSE TERRI SAID THAT IS WHAT SHE WOULD WANT HIM TO DO

Either Michael is the most selfless and devoted husband this country has ever known....
Or he is another lying, manipulative sociopath who has used our "wonderful" court system to sanction a killing

Here's my two cents:

9/11 is a different thing, they wanted something to give last prayers to.

But yea, Catholics depending on where are more fussy about the body. But cremation is acceptable more now. I think the rule is that you must have the body for the service, "send off" or whatever it's called. So by modern Catholic practice, she's getting a proper service. They are younger don't forget.

You can look it up inthe Catholic encyclopedia, I read about it in there at one time.

I think you're missing the ENTIRE POINT in your many and varied posts.

The parents wanted a lock of her hair to remember her by.

The judge denied them even that.

Have you never heard of saving a lock of someone's hair for its sentimental value?

BECAUSE TERRI SAID THAT IS WHAT SHE WOULD WANT HIM TO DO

Actually, because Terri is alleged to have said that is what she would want him to do, and da judge decided it was so.  Her birth family disagrees with the judge and the courts, all of them.

Either Michael is the most selfless and devoted husband this country has ever known....
Or he is another lying, manipulative sociopath who has used our "wonderful" court system to sanction a killing

And that is one of the major reasons this fire will continue to burn long after it should have burned itself out.
