Schroeder and Chirac in Political Trouble
Their economies are destined to fail because of their outrageously excessive welfare states, plus the high value of the Euro is killing their exports.
For the most part the BMW's and Mercedes that are sold in the US are made here. BMW in Greenville, SC and Mercedes in Alabama. We still import a few, but with the Euro trading so high against the dollar nobody would buy them.
What would be the effect on the unemployment statistics if the guest workers were expelled and the jobs then offered to the unemployed Germans.
As an aside, I was in Germany recently and the Muslims are not liked.
It'll never happen, I'm assuming you're talking about a 4th Reich or something...Germany's population is too old, they don't have enough native-born young people to work in the factories and produce goods for warfare or recruit soldiers to fight.
I became umemployeed as of yesterday, but it's still funny. This family is boycotting anything from France, Germany, and Florida.
It don't matter. The masses there are truly ignorant. Provincial people who see themselves as cosmopolitan. Dorf Menschen.
Their STATE RUN media apparatus will run some story days before the elections about how Schroeder-Chirac are against German or French involvement in Timbuktu. Theyll state the hegemony US and its imperialistic savage quest for oil will not be supported by the moral multilateral cultured Europeans (Because they speak for ALL of Europe). Theyll say the US is just diverting attention from the horrible economic situation within its nation (No $hit, he did that in 2002 and the Germans believed him!).
Really- the Germans/French are socialists and want to believe the message these guys put out even though EVERYTHING speaks against it. Their media is largely state run and will support the agenda they push. The masses see themselves as intellectual but are largely socialist regional thinkers, with little long-term vision (At least the populace).
You have a SPD/Green socialist America hater (68er peacenik Schroeder/Fischer) in Germany, and a national-socialist in France (Chirac). Scary combo! But they work together because presently they have too. They mass their power to bully others in the EU and to politically-legitimize each other in the publics view. Long term Schroeder and Chirac will do more harm to the EU than good. They are viewed as the heros of Europe (Only in their publics eyes) temporarily but will spread discontent to the former east block, southern Europe, and elsewhere. Besides destroying their respective economies with socialist command driven economies (46% of German GDP is state) they HAVE damaged NATO, will undermine the EU (That which they state to be the champion of), damaged the trans Atlantic friendship, hurt the Iraqi People all for electoral national politics. Getting elected for Schroeder in 2002 was a no holds barred event. The consequences later were not thought through on that day when Schroeder during the election campaign made his (multilateral) anti-war statement without consultation of his party, advisors, cabinet, or allies.
Germany and France are going down hill all awhile there is huge growth in Asia, North America and elsewhere. Markets are solid and strong! They are suffering from structural/design problems in their economies. They are sick, ridden with an ideological disease that is destroying them. But the real issues plaguing them are not being dealt with. They don't want too!

Hopefully soon!
It really bothers me to pump an annual 8.5 BILLION Euro into a country that can't be depended on even though they will DEMAND help in the Balkans 7 years earlier and took advantage of US defense for 50 years during the Cold War.
Germany has joined the ranks of those nations which are geopolitical allies with the same interests; but that is not trustworthy and where national politics over ride an allies security.
Red6
Yeah
For France mostly
And don't forget to blame the Jews.
The obvious answer is to reduce the work week to 15 hours. Then EVERYBODY will have a job!
And with high unemployment too. Hmm. Not a good combo. If I were them, I'd find urgent business back home in Allah-land in a hurry.
A Germany with a very high unemployment is a very dangerous thing....
That's a shame... just a real shame... a shame I tell ya.
Their economic woes owe a great deal to an alarming Arab immigrant population that is openly hostile to locals. Fact is, almost all European countries are in the same boat. The notion of a "united Europe" is a pipe dream.Their support of the "Axis of Evil Powers" has come home to roost.(We have them dead to right)
And in spite of this all, we will "grant them "amnesty" again because we can "use" them against thier dreadful allies. Tee Hee!
having said that, i think the US boycott has hurt perhaps where it counts most, on France's most prestigious export, WINE. this is such a high visibility item that i think it *really* gets the point across...
personally, i will never buy another product which i know to be french, particularly wine (of course, i live in Chile!)
In Michigan, we just hit 7.5% unemployment and what does the Canadian Trash in the governor's mansion do? Wrings her hands and promises to revoke the Single Business Tax slated to be eliminated in the next few years AND make jobs through road construction!
>>Germany's unemployment rate hit 12.7% last month, and France's unemployment rate remained at 10.1%, both staggering numbers for Europe's two largest economies
Time to remove the feeding tube
No!
Unlike the Germans/French who masturbate when watching bad news from Iraq (See see we were right and it's good we didn't go!!!!) most American politicians and even our public feels not the animosity towards them as they do towards us. We are not the ones with WWII guilt; inferiority complexes and who back stabs allies. They are.
Fact is, we see the loss of German economic power as a loss to us. Our investments abroad, our products which cant be purchased because they cant afford them (Imported luxury items get struck first)
..is not good. If the German can NOT afford Levi, Marlboro, Esso/Exxon fuel, a HP printer and IBM computer its a bad thing for us too. We know this. I and many others dont have Schadenfreude. We are watching their self-mutilization with astonishment and sadness. It is they that are Geil for Schadenfreude in order to justify their positions. Another example is guns and how they jump on every opportunity after a Columbine event to start their BS "guns are bad" lectures.
Think of the word itself! Language gives you away. Why do you think they have this word in their language? What in meaning do we really have as equivalent? Chicken necking? Not really. We adopted their word. Its a trait of their culture. You see this in their communities. Schadenfreude is an attribute of German culture more so than in the US. I'm not saying we don't have it. But German culture is riddled with it. It's a form of entertainment, justification and more to them.
Reference Iraq the Germans and French are extreme! You'll near NEVER hear any of the positive events, unless they must (elections) but they'll harp and harp on Abu Gahrib......anything negative. Why? It makes them feel justified. Why is any book, any movie from a Michael Moore an instant success?

Great analysis. Thanks.
Not quite. More like an overregulated economy. With the Arab population at 10% of the French population, and Turkish population in Germany of about 7%, immigration is not much of a factor in the economic retardation of Western Europe.
They have "protected" their manufacturing economy for too long, with the goal of providing "good paying jobs for all" (sounds like some Freepers I know). Well, things have changed and the Euros are paying for it.
