My opus from FR? Not.

Some long-time valuable posters have announced their opus to leave FR today. Well I don't. This is my family, this is my home. I may have serious disagreements with other posters and may occasionally be discouraged at the direction FR is heading. But I am not a quitter. I am staying right here, right where the center of the action is, and I will never quit. So what if others post offensive comments or views? It's a free country. Anyhow, I'm not leaving, and there is no opus. I'm ready to take on the 21st century and drag it kicking and screaming over to our side. Long live the bastion of news and free speech, Free Republic!

Those who leave and post their so-called "opuses" are wimps and/or drama queens. I couldn't care less any more, no matter HOW long they've been here.

I'm not leaving either .. I have tougher skin than that!!

Besides .. people have to stop taking it personal .. AND .. nothing requires you to answer the post even if it sends you up the wall.

And .. we must remember that a lot of these people who come and drop bombs - come here specifically for that purpose. They drop their bomb (outrageous statements) and then they just sit back and watch us go ballistic. It's a game they play - and I've seen them do this for 5 years or so. And .. when you respond - they call in their buddies and pile on in tag team fashion. DON'T BITE!

The way to fight them is to do 1 of 3 things (or all 3 if you have to):

First: Don't answer them. Ignore their post. I saw this on a thread the other day - right in the middle of the thread was this over the top comment. None of us even acknowledged that the poster was even there. Guess what - no other posters came to join in the attack (there's a clue here).

Second: Laugh at them - by using ROTFLOL - that's all - no other comment - no bad language - nothing. It absolutely catches them off guard. Then - ignore them. Actually - it drives them crazy and they will say the most outrageous things just to get you to respond. DON'T!

Third: If they use bad language or call you names - report them. I never hesitate - and I SIGN IT - finally the word will get around - don't mess with them - they report you. Refuse to respond to foul language.

Remember .. a lot of these really old timers who do the attacking are from the Pat Buchanan and McCain groups. They are frustrated because they have no political power - they don't agree with NORMAL conservatives - so they just like to pick fights for amusement.

Time for us to act like the adults we are and not allow idiots to run things.

The "WPPFF" has been in existence for a mere 3 days.

It's a 4,000+ reply thread, but, if you read the first 20-30 replies and read the view replies of post #2 of the thread I linked above, I think you'll see why Poohbah decided to take his ball and go home.

I think you are right. The replies were great too. JR should open a flame room. Usenet news had an alt.flame where folks could go and beat the crab out of one anther. I think I have a look and post one so Freeper can see what a real flame looks like. Oh and you were not anonymous, so it was a bit more real then someone named Hillysucks posting.

That's a good point. I've never figured out why posters who have been on FR since 1998 think everyone is supposed to agree with them simply because they have been here since the beginning.
