you're right.

I can see why people are mad at this president. We've grown accustomed of him stepping in, in every instance to do the right thing.

He has critics on both sides saying that he should NOT have intervened at all at any level.

But, I would like to think that if he could have intervened and done so with a big win in his pocket he would have.

What if he had issued some executive order to have the feeding tube placed back. The case was not being heard by any other judge.

I mean what is the next move, send the national guard down there.

I mean, everyone is picking at the president as this do nothing guy, what could he have done to have made a difference other than to look sillier after some half baked judge tells him to get his @ss back to DC.

I THINK THIS ENTIRE FIASCO TELLS US ALL HOW BAD THE COURT SYSTEM IS BECOMING HERE IN THIS COUNTRY. It's at the point now that the president is thwarted.

Why didn't the federal govt agree to hear the case when the president and congress essentially asked them to do so?

That is, of course, a no-brainer. All three branches of the federal government are obligated to protect life, by virtue of the Constitution.

All three branches were involved. Congress passed a bill taking it to the federal courts, the President signed it, and the federal district court reviewed the case for procedural errors and found none.

And if two different law enforcement agencies shot it out on the streets in front of the hospice televised live on CNN (as some here would have wanted) and 80% of the people support Judge Greer's actions, do you think there would not be any political fallout?

Am I to understand that a politician's highest consideration ought to be political fallout?

Again, you take things to absurdity. There would have been no shootout in any case, least of all if the governor personally went and delivered his written order.

You all keep telling that lie, it keeps being refuted by facts, and yet you just keep right on telling it.

Says alot about you and your motives.

Just what is it you don't understand about the fact that Jeb Bush is the top law enforcement agent in Florida, and that the local cops would have stood aside instantly in the face of an order from the Governor or the President?

As to political fallout, the people would have followed strong and principled leadership. Instead, they are wallowing about in confusion, leaderless.

Why didn't the federal govt agree to hear the case when the president and congress essentially asked them to do so?

They, with the federal courts, are the federal government.

The reason their efforts went nowhere is they did nothing when a low-level judge, George Greer, thumbed his nose at them all. The courts were instructed by the Congress that the SHALL review Terri's case, de novo. Tom Delay said, prior to the passage of the legislation, that anyone disobeying it would be held in contempt of Congress.

Amazingly, those were empty words. They held no one in contempt, even for blatantly ignoring congressional subpoenas.

Remember that, next time Congress subpoenas you. You apparently don't have to show up.

"The leader of the free world has a slightly different mandate than you and me working our 9-5 jobs. I don't see you writing out a check to lower the budget deficit."

I'm sorry but they seemed to have done what they could do. But your point is really silly, they took the actions they felt was within their power. I as a business owner write checks to the government every quarter (my fair share and ten some). But what does that have to do with this issue.

I wasn't the one complaining about the actions of the President or Governor. It's not like they did nothing. What does being the leader of the free world have to do with it.

I think my remarks are right on the money. No cursing, no swearing, just an opinion sincerely stated.

He deserves a measure of the BLAME, I disagree.

The Judges are even MORE culpable.

"Mr US Marshall, this is the President. At this very moment I am signing two pieces of paper, a Law passed by congress to give Terri Schiavo a new hearing in Federal Court, and an Executive order, instructing you to take her into custody, and escort her to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Make it happen.

.......and if ANYONE so much as whispers disapproval or interferes with that - arrest them

Your hatred of Governor Bush is palpable. Are you sure you are in the right place? He DID issue an executive order ordering the feeding tube replaced. What more did you want him to do?

.......enforce it!

Now, that is something.

I would interpret it as mourning for the state of the country, as well.

Can you believe our nation just starved a woman to death? I am in shock.

I agree, we are all entitled to our opinions. But, he can't walk on water and has short comings. You need to look at the President in a much broader spectrum as the whole. I have the opinion that he is the best man for the job at the right time. Ask yourself, "What would John Kerry have done?"

"Laws which authorize and promote …euthanasia are…completely lacking in authentic juridical validity.…A civil law authorizing…euthanasia ceases by that very fact to be a true, morally binding civil law' "(#72)

John Paul II, The Gospel of Life

This can also be discerned from natural law, so one does not necessarily have to be a Catholic to be able to understand the morality involved.

There is a higher law.
