I'm inclined to agree

I'm with you on that one. Every one did everything they could yet no one could prevent a severely disabled woman from being starved to death. I don't pretend to know the answer but then again, I'm not the president. I do know something is wrong with letting this happen. If the best all our so called leaders can do is point fingers at each other or claim to be powerless to do anything, what the hell do we need them for?

This speech today was not for Terri -- it was scheduled to release the Report on Intelligence. This was not a hastily called for the President to make remarks on Terri.

Fox News made it out to sound that way. Nonetheless, my opinion remains the same. He started to say something but didn't follow through.

Please don't take my statement as anything more than an observation on the moment.

Nonetheless, the executive power of the Governor was properly brought to force within its limits, so I don't blame Jeb there. That nonsense about storming the hospice and violating the court orders was ridiculous.

Maybe, and maybe not. Would it be OK with you if some federal court, in a civil trial, ordered that all firearms be confiscated and destroyed and the executive branch went along with it? At some point one has to stand, and should expect his elected officials to do likewise, regardless of the ravings of some "men in black".

The freaks over at DU are thrilled at how this is working out, they got to stick it to the Republicans and now the conservatives are at each others throats.

There joy will subside when leftist Dem pols start politicking over Terri's body. They will find that when America wakes up to what we've done, as a nation, they will despised even more for approving of it than those who allowed it.

And some of these people here that wanted the President to go against the Rule of Law would have cruicified him if he had. Some chose this issue to bash!

In a representative democratic republic the President and the Legislature are elected to represent the will of the people. They did and it was overruled on the grounds that it was unConstitutional to do so. Judge Whittemore publicly chastized them on those grounds. That judicial defiance was met with utter silence from the WH and Capitol Hill while Terri still lived. That's not bashing that's a fact

There are some who will not criticize this President, but beyond Terri, Bush has gone the "wrong way" plenty of times. He is Weak on Border Security siding with the foreign potentate Fox, He signed the unconstitutional Campaign Finance Reform bill, he was too weak for recess appointments of judges, his "tax cuts" are a joke, they were simply "credits" for particular people, he continues to suck up to the U. N.

Think I'll log on to FR with a different screen name sometime in the near future, so if you see a poster with the name "FORMER BUSH SUPPORTER" - it could be me. . .

And if you think that starving a woman to death is ethical, I will pray for you.

"Outstanding statement by Delay."

Delay, whom I used to greatly respect, is a coward too. Congress issued a subpoena commanding Terry to appears last Monday, WHY THE HELL DID NOT CONGRESS ENFORCE THAT SUBPOENA!. Because it was a dog and pony show, lip service. Shame, shame on you Delay. and Tom, I know a lot of your voters. I will be telling them about you.

He was handcuffed by our own "laws".

Very appropriate to put "laws" in quotes. It wasn't really the law, but a judges' personal verision of it that was the problem here.

"So?"

The complexity of the feeding tube development (30 years) puts it in the class of other means of artificial life support like respirators was the point.

I have spent hours and hours making phone calls, sending faxes, calling talk radio and on and on. I can assure you I spent far more time on this than the president did.

I can further assure you, if I had the military and Law Enforcement at my disposal, I would have led them in there myself. It is clear THAT is the kind of POWER and ACTION it would have taken to rescue TERRI SCHINDLER!

The Democrats, aided by their puppets in the mainstream press, are organizing a concerted campaign to shift the blame for killing Terri away from those responsible in the judiciary to the Bush brothers in a crass attempt to use Terri's death for their own political advantage.

Nope. The President and Congress have the authority to reign in the judiciary. They have the support of We The People. If the judiciary has run wild, it is because the Congress, with it's Republican Majority is weak-willed and will not represent the people according to their constitutional duty.

If I were a Democrat, I'd use this as well; Bush has handed this issue to the Democrats on a SILVER PLATTER - he will deserve the bad press.

BS! This is a clear Constitutional crisis brought about by an incrementally growing power grab by the judiciary. The President acquiesced.

Congress, the will of the American people, the Branch of Government that makes laws, wasn't enough then?

Whatever, dude, I've known long before I swore to defend the Constitution (whatever that piece of paper means) that there's something bigger than America.

If you talked with law enforcement "on the scene", then were you in the same room as Terri? What are their names? All of their names? Where their "protecting" Terri or making sure she died?

Bloggers and the public will know soon enough which cops to avoid and why some "law enforcement" is as counter-productive to serving and upholding law and order as is the United Nations. Time works against the culture of death.

Hardly think what, that they'll think about impeaching, or that they'll succeed? I'm not saying they will succeed in impeaching Jeb Bush. In fact, they wouldn't even expect to succeed in forcing him from office. It takes 2/3 of the Florida House and Senate to do that, and that'll never happen, however much the democrats, the media, and lots of people here on FR want it to.

What they could hope for, probably reasonably, is to cause him so much political damage that he would be effectively neutered for the remainder of his term, and that some of that damage would spill over to his big brother George.

While there is plenty of blame to go around, the primary blame rests with Michael Shiava and the Judiciary. At worst the Bush's committed "sins of ommission". Sure they could have acted more forcefully, but they shouldn't have had to act at all.
