A blender is a complicated device to develop. Should we stop using it to make pureed food for people who can't swallow?

Why was Terri denied water by mouth? or palliative care (mouth swabs)? This death is monstrous.

"The law was changed in 1999 to classify a feeding tube as an "extraordinary means of support""

The "feeding tube" took 30 years to develop. A medical ethicist on Fox who was a friend of the inventor said he would have considered it life support. I imagine extraordinary due to its complex development.

Auschwitz was in Poland, so it may have been "liberated" by the Russians, I just don't remember.

Yes, it was the Russians.

I just hate showing the other side trolling that we are eating our own. Do I think the Bush brothers could have done more? Yes.

What is important now is making sure that it does not happen again and keep the pressure on.

With an Executive who uderstood his basic sworn duties, no judge could get away with declaring the constitution unconstitutional.

Arguably the most powerful man in the world, President Bush said he did all he could do. Apparently there are many judges more powerful, however.

So how would you deal with legislative tyranny if you want to emasculate the ability of the courts to overturn unconstitutional laws?

DeLay Statement on Terri Schiavo

To: National Desk

Contact: Dan Allen or Shannon Flaherty, 202-225-4000, both for House Majority Leader Tom DeLay

SUGAR LAND, Texas, March 31 /U.S. Newswire/ -- House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas) today released the following statement mourning the passing of Terri Schiavo:

"Mrs. Schiavo's death is a moral poverty and a legal tragedy. This loss happened because our legal system did not protect the people who need protection most, and that will change. The time will come for the men responsible for this to answer for their behavior, but not today. Today we grieve, we pray, and we hope to God this fate never befalls another. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Schindlers and with Terri Schiavo's friends in this time of deep sorrow."

I think the lesson here is more about separation of church and state.

The lesson I learned is that Terri was a person. I don't want to politicize her death. To me she is a Christian martyr now. I don't care how religious she was or was not.

Apparently there are some on FR who have no regard for the rule of law.

"Practically speaking, this is a good time for the President to punt."

Yes, that's what he's been being doing all along why change strategies now? Pretty speeches by politician's with finger prints all over her lifeless body is not what I want to hear.

For Terri's sake and in her memory we must fight, we must not be silent and we must never lose hope. Terri is with God now and though I weep for her and the cruelty of her death I rejoice that she is safe with Him.
Make no mistake her death must remind us that " our struggle is not with flesh and blood but with the principaliteis, with the powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits. Eph 6 10-13
Pray for us and God have mercy on this nation.

Thanks, deport! I had looked all over for that...didn't think to check US Newswire.

I think DeLay is not done with this subject, and I expect to see some action in the next month or so.

" The religious don't act based on majority opinion."

No problem. They just might have trouble getting elected by the majority was my point.

Delay is not someone that you want on your bad side. He won't act just to appease people but he won't forget either. He will bide his time until the moment is right and then smash anyone in his way.

[ This issue is FAR bigger than illegal immigration. ]

True....
It even touches on abortion.. (the Shiavo affair)..
You know, just how cheap IS life in the United States..
The answer; Pretty cheap...

It also effects immigration, the flood of humanity across the Mexican border ARE NOT immigrants.. They are illegal aliens.. and are and remain Mexican citizens, even if nateralized, you know.. Life is cheap in the U.S. and the quality of people crossing our borders is also cheap.. that care not a wit about America. Their basically the mentality of american democrats and will become democrats if legitimized.. American democrats share the "illegals" lack of respect for this country..

America has become cheapened by Abortion, the Shiavo affair , and millions of illegals flounting our laws, parasiting our systems and cheapening real immigration..

BUT; the speech was to be a diversion from Bush's real negative..
