Mel Gibson On Schiavo: "Its A Modern Crucifixion" ("Passion" Director Rips Pro-Death Agenda Alert)

Mel Gibson, the Hollywood star who directed of "The Passion of the Christ," says the case of Terri Schiavo is a modern-day crucifixion with a pro-death agenda driving it.

"It's just completely wrong to deprive this poor woman of food and water," Gibson said on Sean Hannity's national radio show yesterday. "It's a prolonged and cruel execution."

Gibson continues contact with the family of the brain-injured Florida woman who has been starving since her feeding tube was removed by court order March 18.

"I'm appalled and stunned that we've gotten to this," Gibson said. "I just sit here watching this whole scenario play out in front of me with my mouth hanging wide open, that our country has come to this. I think it's really a dark, black day. And I think that this final appeal – it's too little too late. It's an attempt [by] the powers that be to sort of really just cover their a-- later on so they can say we tried, but in fact, they're not trying real hard. ...

"What happened to just being a human being, you know? It's nothing more than state-sanctioned murder. All the big guys, they all have their hands tied up by some tinhorn judge down there. Come on, when they want to whip a judge, they got no problem doing that. Look what they did to [Ten Commandments proponent Roy Moore] in a heartbeat. So they can do it if they want. They just don't want to."

Gibson, whose films include the "Mad Max" trilogy, "Braveheart," "The Patriot," and the "Lethal Weapon" series, acknowledges Schiavo has "some brain damage," but adds "she's not a vegetable," noting the debate over whether or not she's in a persistent vegetative state is not resolved.

"It hasn't had a fair going-over yet, so to just go right to this crucifixion of this woman ... even a dog has more rights. You do this to an animal, they'll lock you up, but this is a human being we're doing this to."

Calling it completely merciless, Gibson said there's a pro-death agenda being pushed on the public with this case.

"It's a precedent that they set," he said. "We may be able to save a few Social Security dollars later on down the track simply by pulling the plug on the infirmed or the disabled or the aged. It's the inevitability of gradualism. ... There is an agenda, and people say 'Well, they can't all be in it together,' but there's no other way to explain this behavior."

For all the ugliness Gibson sees in the starvation of Schiavo, he warned, "We'll see worse than this."

Sean Hannity

When Hannity pointed out the case is a defining moment for society, Gibson responded, "A lot depends on it. If she does travel into the next dimension, hopefully it will mean something and we'll learn from it, and something positive will come from it. It's just a terrible tragedy to watch state-sanctioned murder."

I believe he has dual citizenship. He was born in New York, and his family moved to Australia when he was 12.

He states the real problem: "the inevitability of gradualism":

Calling it completely merciless, Gibson said there's a pro-death agenda being pushed on the public with this case. "It's a precedent that they set," he said. Absolutely! This is the Roe v Wade of the Euthanasia crowd. Abortion wasn't enough; they now want to terminate the disabled while extending their own lives with fetal stem cell research. I hope Hell can hold them all!

A caller to Rush's program yesterday spoke about her son, now in 7th grade. He was born without an esophagus. The family fed him through a tube until he was old enough for doctor's to construct an esophagus. He now leads a perfectly normal life, planning to become a doctor to treat children with birth defects. If this pro-death crowd succeeds, his customer base may well be non-existant.

You are so right. It is not relevant. We are not God. We do not get to decide when a innocent person gets to live or die. I listened to the entire Mel interview on Hannity's radio show, yesterday. What a smart and humane person. He's got it right. This is only the beginning.

Mel was most elequent and I was very impressed that he is aware of Judge Roy Moore's case, too. He is light years above most of the Hollywood pinheads.

There's no rhyme or reason to the process that's supposed to hold judges accountable for their conduct.

Simple, both posistions deny Christ.

OMG--I thought it was just me. I saw that horrid Catherine Crier on FNC and had the EXACT same reaction: I watched an attractive woman turn into a hateful, vicious little tyrant. Her screeching contempt of Jay Sekulow was sickening. Mel Gibson rocks, no doubt about it. He could lead the charge against this euthanasia outrage like a William Wallace.

Patricia Heaton has. She has stated pretty much the same thoughts Mel Gibson has stated. Not in the same manner, but the tone has been comparable. Besides Gibson and Heaton, I haven't heard anything from whorellywierd about this tragedy.

Yes, as I said, an otherwise attractive woman given over to demons. I wonder whether being able to see it is perhaps an unconscious "gift of discernment" not available to everyone.

Ah, Mel Gibson, what else can be said? When it comes to actors who are real men (or as real as it gets in the movies), Republicans got stuck with Schwarzenegger who, if the constitution allowed him to go much further in the realm of politics, would no doubt live up to his "Terminator" character. Mel, on the other hand, had no stretch to make playing the role of the devout Catholic Hal Moore, leading and caring for his men in battle all the while with a love that can only come from God Himself. He is, I believe, constitutionally eligible for the Presidency, but I would be very surprised if he'd ever go for it.

But, I do think he'll continue to use his position for good.

I think a lot of America knows and loves Mel Gibson. He put everything on the line with his "Passion", and knew it would be tough to be able to sell his picture. His own money and credibility were at stake...and America responded way beyond anyone's expectation. Mel's remarks about this case are very telling and he hit it on the mark about our so called killing from the courts without mercy. These are the culture of death people, to take someone out who happens to make life a little uncomfortable for anyone else. This case is telling because there was a way out for Terri for her parents to resume care. The husband totally refused in any way. To me it shows he, Michael, has something to hide. Mel stated that this is the first big one to make headlines and there will be more to follow.

Thanks for speaking out, Mel. Would that our political leaders had half your courage. Sadly, most of them are "politics over principle" cowards:

God I wish he would run for President.

Perhaps this Mel will see the need to become more actively involved
in pro-life as a result of this black day in America
We could use his glout (and $$)
